relax man most of us have been supportive , we do not want to see this young man throw away an awesome opportunity like Garcia did. Garcia had a problem that he could not shake and he will regret not learning from it earlier than he did. God had Garcia go through what he did for a reason.

Why bring other people into one young man's problem? Hopefully Sammy will learn from his mistakes. Stephen Garcia did not. Hopefully for his sake...he has now. Let's give Sammy that chance, too. He is not Garcia...he is his own person and hopefully will step up to the plate.

No offense but spurrier didnt send him a harsh enough message...IMO spurrier took it way to lightly ,the kid needed real help and real discipline from the start

not comparing Sammy to Garcia at all. I realize that they are two different individuals that have gotten into trouble for two totally different things.
Derrick Watson and Summers were both thrown off the team by Holtz , for failing drug tests for the third time per university policy.
The Garcia situation is a mixed bag of emotions. Do u kick a kid off the team for keying a car? None of us no the 100% sure fire answer to that. Spurrier gave C.C. Whitlock a second chance and he got focused and and changed himself, same thing for Cory Boyd.
A coach is like a father to his players do you throw your kid out on his butt or do you try and develop him into the man he needs to be? Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't .

Sammy's generally a good kid.

Said last year he reminded me of Lattimore with his impact and actions. A little less so now, but some weed and a study aid does not a hardened thug make. He's still the same good kid doing the same right things. He made a mistake. Let him learn from it and move on. When it becomes a pattern of behavior, then he can get thrown under the bus.

Garcia's issues

A list of Garcia's issues: The car keying incident is by far the only serious event and the only one that might remotely compare to the seriousness of Watkins charges. Remember, Watkins was driving at the time and committing violations doing that also. Garcia had to pay to fix the Professors car and served other punishments.
February 2007: Garcia was indefinitely suspended after being arrested in Five Points for drunkenness and failure to stop on police command.
March 2007: Garcia was arrested again. This time for vandalizing a visiting professor's car -- "keying" the car.
March 2008: Garcia was charged with underage drinking.
The top 3 were before playing his first game. The last 2 were really BS and are the only ones after he started playing.
March 2011: Garcia violated team rules in December, reportedly for having girls in his Atlanta hotel room after bed check during the week of the 2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl.
April 2011: Garcia was suspended indefinitely for violating team rules that were believed to have stemmed from his disruptive behavior and smelling of alcohol at an SEC-mandated leadership event.

stealing a candy bar from 7 Eleven isn't really a bad crime so I'm going to keep doing it over and over. Nice one.

to the point of finally being kicked off the team for just testing positive for alcohol consumption. He had no serious offenses after 2008 but because of the ones before 2008, he had additional requirements to meet. He didn't meet them and was kicked out of school.

The guy listed the infractions Garcia committed but you want it to be so much worse that you try to ignore the facts. He tested for alcohol, not drugs, that is a fact and he was removed from team.
He did not test for pot, never was caught in possession of that or a controlled substance. Those are the facts though it doesn't seem you're interested in that.
Watkins will serve a punishment and get a 2nd chance and that is the right thing to have happen. Whether you want to admit it or not Garcia never tested for pot and never was arrested for possession. He did get arrested for sitting in front of dorm with older brother with an open beer. You really think that a Clemson player would have been arrested for sitting in a lawn chair with an open container?? Really??

Garcia is just one in MANY, MANY coot players arrested. It's such a common thing it hardly gets mention in the papers when they are arrested.....or wait, is that USC grad journalists covering for their team????
