Wait, nevermind. Caving.

It is a "hostile political act" to display the EXTRA MONEY a customer MUST pay for an item due to tariffs. Yes, you read that right.

should do this. Put it right in customers’ faces very transparently what Trump’s actions is costing them.

But...but...bu...the other countries pay tariffs, not Muricans.

If American consumers are confronted with the exact dollar amount they are paying extra for tariffs, that would mean Trump is lying, and we all know he's as honest as they come.

The funny thing is, now everyone will already think whatever they are buying is more costly due to tariffs,.even for items not impacted. Trump will get the blame for things being expensive.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Unfortunately, not everyone. Trump still probably has at least a good 10-20%

of his mouth-breathers believing him that Chyna pays, and the countries pay, not Muricans. These are the same people who believe Mexico paid for the border wall. I'd like to think the "not everyone" contingent is maybe 1-2% of people, but I almost always under-estimate these things, and it's probably 20% or more.

They probably realized anyone could then figure out how much was paid for the super cheap Chinese garbage that's then marked up 1000% for Americans to buy. Might actually convince some folks to buy their cheap crap from someone thats not a murderous communist regime whose ultimate goal is our destruction. No wonder the left loves them so much and hates the guy that's making them pay. Cry more scumbags.

I think all retailers should be required to do this, we are the ones paying them, we deserve to know exactly how much, this is not hard. And I imagine a lot of retailers will raise pricing, not due solely to tariffs, but because they can. This lack of transparency opens the door for price-gauging if people do not know where their products were sourced and the tariff applied. This would require an act of Congress, and seeing how hard it was to get warning labels put on cigarettes, best of luck.

I agree it should be stated on the bill.
Getting congress to do anything other than grandstand and campaign, yeah that's not going to happen.

Some days tariffs are going to make us all rich. Some days they will cause some economic pain. Depends on what side of the bed the convicted felon woke up on that day.

Not sure why I was surprised, but I was when Leavitt said she just talked to Trump and it was a "hostile and political act". How in the eff is pointing what the Trump tariffs are adding to the price of a product "hostile". Yeah, the truth is hostile.

Give me a break.

Hard for Trump to claim China pays the tariffs when consumers can directly see the impact.

I want to see it all. The 1st line on the receipt should start with the manufactures production cost, followed by manufacturer mark up for the wholesale price, the tariff cost, inflation costs, the retail cost, and finally the state tax. Let us all see everything that goes into the cost of a good. Why not list the workers wages, then we can see where there's slave labor and greed.
