Myles Murphy = Jayron Kearse

Dabo called Myles out for loafing earlier this year and brought his name up occassionally after that. Reminds me Jayron just disappearing after the GT game in 2015.

Do we beat Bama 2015 if Kearse sits out?

A handful of bad plays really stand out.

He’s different because he’s projected to go as a top 8 overall pick. So he must not have been really slacking off.

His stats aren’t as high at Clemson because of the other elite D lineman. Even though he still amounted 17.5 sacks. Obviously his body build is what initially makes him desirable. But he just never stops impacting in some way. His motor does seem not used enough, but his effort and impact on the game when he is playing his hardest is what makes his build more valuable and makes him the second best DE to Will Anderson in the country.

Your logic seems backwards.

More elite defensive linemen should allow for Myles to avoid double teams and have better stats.
If the offensive line has to consider other players, and can’t just scheme to stop him, he should be free to do more - not less.

You’re saying it should. I stated what did happen. The amount of depth, great D line play, injuries, and 80% effort all prevented him from getting the stats he really could have had. If it were not for so much rotation, he would have more stats. If other D lineman/Linebackers didn’t get to the ball carrier first, he would have more stats. He’s projected as a top 10 pick, therefore I think it’s safe to say double teams would only work for about 1 half anyways. Until you get to Playoff teams.

Reminds me of Clowney at USuC. Took plays off quite often. Clowney still does in the NFL when he is not feigning injury.

Looks like Murphy was not all in after all. He is going to be playing a lot tougher games over the next 10 years but he can’t play one more for his teammates and Clemson. Certainly put a different twist on it. Am I going to pay millions for a guy to loaf and opt out on me some day. Probably not.
