ConspiracyTom has a long history of forgetting Trumps nonsense but attacking anyone who isn't Trump. It's hypocritical, and the "nasty comment" as you call it is well deserved.
I also find this ironic coming from you.

She's had her share of lies in her career. She's just sadly the only answer we have to remove the nursing home patient and stop the future dictator.
Also, any Trumpie who jumps in this thread and ####### about her lying is a bona fide idiot.

I don't know any details on this issue.
Is it that she is wrong about there never being any violence or that we know she knew there was and is lying about it?

In fact, nothing jumps out at off the page at me about that whole time, that's significant enough for me to say "oh yeah, I remember that". But that could just be me.

but I'm also not the former Gov of SC.
But, it seems like a weird thing the lie about, given that it's so easy to disprove.
I would tend to say someone is "wrong" about something versus "lying" about something like there, were said person wasn't directly involved or doesn't have known 1st-hand knowledge of...but that's splitting hairs for sure.

And certainly it doesn't change my thoughts on whether I would vote for her or not. But she put herself in the position to be wrong, or lie, or just say the wrong thing for no real reason.
And I agree..its a dumb thing to get caught up in.

Wait a minute...I just went back and read her comments....
1
Jan 11, 2024, 10:46 AM
|
|
she referenced the Walter Scott shooting and the Emanual church shootings that happened in SC and said:
“We came together as a state in prayer and we had no riots, We didn’t need the national guard, because a leader knows how to bring out the best in people.”
Those 2 events happened in 2015 and the BLM damage in Charleston was in 2020, right? She was talking about during her tenure as Governor.
So she didn't lie or come anywhere close to it...at least not in that line anyways.

Yes, but it was in the context of those 2 events and her tenure...

here are her comments:
“We had the shooting of Walter Scott. ... We had a horrific shooting at a church where a White supremacist came in and killed nine amazing souls. BLM, all of that, we never had to deal with riots. We've never had to call in the National Guard, Ron, because when we had both of those shootings, we were able to pull people together. We didn't have riots. We had vigils. We didn't have protests. We had prayer. We brought people together,” Haley said. “Not only did I move to bring the Confederate flag down, we came together as a state of prayer and we had no division, no riots, no anything.”

and also DeSantis had already mentioned them a few times I believe. If you didn't watch, the comments make a bit more sense in the context of what was being said before that.
BLM held rallies in Charleston after Walter Scott was killed. I think her point was that, as Gov, she tried to be more of a uniter than a divider. That is a distinction worth making versus Trump, IMO.

Well, almost anyone.
I'm certain I'm not the only that heard her say that (yes, I watched it) and went "WUT?".
The thing here is she didn't even have to go into that detail. It would have been better for her had she not. Kinda like with the civil war question, maybe its better to accept some things and move on.
And I'm not sure who is telling her what else she should be saying...but she also needs to drop the automatic return of "go to Desantislies.com". Its just a bad look.

Okay, she is a typical politician. But at least for the primary, lets just compare her for a moment to the liar-in-chief, DJT. Hell, he says J6 was a "beautiful day" and that the J6 prisoners are "hostages". Even recorded a song with them. So sue me, but I think I'll stick to the sane normal politician.

Look at Tara's Twitter feed.
There are no "genuine conservatives" and everyone is a RINO except for her and DeSantis and Trump.
Here's a little insight - no one has a corner on the label and ideology "conservative." There are many with the label who may disagree with each other but can still be conservative. These media people are just like the left in targeting and demonizing people who don't 100% agree with them. They just do it differently. Same thing, though.
The bottom-line for conservatives - however you want to define that - is who has the best chance of defeating Biden. Trump - does not. DeSantis - maybe. Haley - definitely. Is she the perfect candidate? Nope. There isn't one. Would she be better than Biden? H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks YES. And how significant would it be for the country's first female president to be a Republican??! As Don would say - HUUUUUGE.

Wonder what came after that? Maybe a little, oh, I don't know - context?? What she later has said is that she didn't think the bill was necessary in South Carolina at that time. In short, why MAKE an issue out of something that ISN'T an issue in this state? I would agree. If there were demands and lawsuits or whatever, then yes, a bill would be necessary. But a bill banning something that was never an issue - certainly not a significant one - is just political grandstanding and kicking a hornet's nest.
DeSantis has been very prominent in making issues where there were none, and stirring up a lot of unnecessary political and social discord. We don't need that from either side. If something is an issue that needs to be dealt with - deal with it. If not - don't. Why make conflict where there otherwise is none. And as we've seen here in SC - it never became an issue. I'd call that shrewd leadership.

It starts toward the end at 55:45. If you want the transcript, here it is:
I remember a state senator in South Carolina filed a bill and I strong-armed him and I said we are not having that in South Carolina because what I knew was wasn't that we didn't have transgender kids then we did but parents handled it with their schools discreetly. You made sure they had a private bathroom of their own. You didn't affect everybody else's children in the process and that's what's wrong is they are trying to appease a small group of people but they're hurting everybody else. Don't mess with our kids because you've got a special issue with your child. And so I, I, we have to snap out of it because we look so distracted right now in the eyes of the world. I mean the rest of the world is looking at us going what is happening and and we've got to stop that. No, boys should not be playing in women's sports, period. There have been many times that girls wanted to play in boys sports and the guys pitched a fit and it didn't happen. I don't know why it's not happening with the girls Sports because, you know, like, my daughter, she ran track. I would be devastated if she had to deal with the situation like that. And now you've got situations where they've got locker room issues and you've got girls all sitting in one room and then you've given the guy the entire locker room because they don't want to change in front of them. I mean it's abusive. Yeah, you bet.
