The Peter principle

Sep 24, 2022, 5:41 PM

The Peter principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence": employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another.

Dabo consistently promotes to a level of incompetence. Yea, we won. But....

in leadership. No concept of reality and trends that lead to less than desirable outcomes. This is a very low-IQ board in general, so go ahead and flame away.

The Peter Principle is...watch who you are ogling over and keep
that zipper up because the wrong move can keep you in debt for
years. Never trust anything with a head and one eye so keep that
rascal under guard. Where did you come up with that crap that you
posted?

Players make or don't make plays, not coaches.

Define consistently?

Let's talk about the promotions he made. Jeff Scott and Tony Elliot were 2 of them and both hired elsewhere as head coaches. Todd Bates and Brent Venebles were hired from outside the staff, so they don't count as promotions, but both went on to promotions leaving Clemson. The jury is still out on Streeter, Goodwin, and Austin unless you have decided after 4 games they are failures. That leaves Pearman as the only one I can think of that the "Peter Principal" may apply to. Can you share other examples?
