T-net MOD/ADMIN - Board Improvement Suggestion (really necessary)

Jan 7, 2016, 9:39 AM

With the increased traffic I believe it is becoming increasingly necessary that some organization to the boards need to take place.

Instead of reading 20 different posts over a 5 day period on the same topic I suggest that the board admin/mods "merge" these threads.

Why not combine those threads for better continuity and increased discussion as well as making it easier to search and find?

Once a thread hits page 2 or 3 it is unnoticed and someone just starts a new thread on the same topic.

There are even times when page 1 will have multiple threads on the same topic.

If this function is not available to you I suggest finding a way to make it so (like so many other forums).

I think it will provide a much more enjoyable experience on Tnet and significantly enhance the level of discussion on the boards by bringing all parties interested in a particular topic together.

TIA

327 posts in 9 years and he's demanding board changes....

Maybe you should learn to post under the right forum....

I personally prefer to keep them separate. I don't like 75+ response long threads. Takes too much time to wade through it all.

"Demanding"? Hyper sensitive I take it. ...

I didn't post much earmy on cause honestly this board is confusing to follow and took me a while to make sense of the chaos.

My suggestion is simply for a little more organization.

I do find it ironic that you are telling me to "learn to post under right forum" when in essence I'm suggesting that if not through mod action that others learn to look for existing topic before starting the same one for the 10th time in a day.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope... Then it wood be just like any others

you posted on the wrong forum thereby disrupting "organization"...your suggestion has absolutely ZERO to do with Tiger Football.

Pretty simple....

If you can get this implemented on TNET could you try

to do something about ESPN.
Same $hit over and over with just different people and different show titles.
I usually watch one show once a week and I then know everything I need to know

Jan 7, 2016, 10:37 AM

Yeah, for example. ... instead of posting

Will green play in ob?

Or

Deon in Class?
Deon playing in ncg?
Etc....

Just read the one thread on that topic.

I'm sure certain topics can go on and on and the could be a limit or something so that a new one gets started. ...

I knew the old timers would cut me little slack if any. ... (I'm not new to Tnet so I knew what to expect)

I'm just suggesting a LITTLE more organization. Fwiw

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wouldn't that limit clicks and thus hurt ad revenue?

Jan 7, 2016, 11:56 AM

I've been posting here for awhile and see no problem with the current setup.

Every message board I've ever been on that operates this way is like a ghost town.

Let people talk.

Re: T-net MOD/ADMIN - Board Improvement Suggestion (really necessary)

Jan 7, 2016, 10:46 AM

We've visited different boards then.

....and nothing I've suggested restricts people from talking. People can post....just suggesting mods merge the redundant topics.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I strongly prefer Tnet as it is.

Jan 7, 2016, 10:45 AM

If it's a topic I'm not interested in, I scroll past it. No biggie.

Tnet is set up less like a "Message Board" and more like a "Discussion Board". Just like you don't walk into a party and ask if anyone is discussing DLine play, you don't come into Tigernet and search for the right place to discuss what you want to discuss (except for the pre-set "Football", "Recruiting" etc.). Just say it. I prefer that to 1) having to find a thread on the topic and 2) adding the 659th post on a thread that started three weeks ago. They get stale.

Re: I strongly prefer Tnet as it is.

Jan 7, 2016, 10:50 AM

I agree. .. a 3 month old topic is much. But what I'm suggesting is the dominated page 1 threads of "what about Cain? "

The "can green play in the ob?"

And so on.

None of those would go on for months.

You would have "mega threads" but one they hit a certain point you just archive it and go on with a new one.

Fyi.... I've sent T mail so feel free (to all) to let this die here.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: T-net MOD/ADMIN - Board Improvement Suggestion (really necessary)

Jan 7, 2016, 11:07 AM

Thanks for the suggestion, they are always welcome.

I think it's just a matter of personal preference. I do not like the one thread per topic boards at all. If I come in and see a topic that interests me that has 20+ pages of replies over a week or so, I have a few equally poor choices.

1. Spend 20 minutes or however long reading the whole thread in order.

2. Go to the last page and read backwards, so you are reading posts that are replies to posts you haven't read yet.

3. Start at page 15 and try to figure out the thread by the time I reach the end.

With our way, if a thread is interesting, it will stay on page 1 as it gets bumped to the top with every reply (unless you changed to sort by creation date). There may be duplicate threads, but usually they will be a slightly different take on the subject.

Thanks!

What if you start a "good" thread that rival trolls push back to page 7 in 5 minutes

Jan 7, 2016, 11:16 AM [ in reply to Re: T-net MOD/ADMIN - Board Improvement Suggestion (really necessary) ]

By posting a total of 40 words in 20 newly created topics. In doing so, people like yourself or anyone for that matter, will ever see "good" topic, and consequently, it never gains traction because it's never seen or discussed?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How about we just put money aside for a week, and ban the obvious guilty parties***

Apr 12, 2024, 8:21 PM [ in reply to Re: T-net MOD/ADMIN - Board Improvement Suggestion (really necessary) ]

Thanks for the reply. I understand the thinking there. I just don't see the difference in topic threads on Deon Cain.
1. Is he kicked off
2. Is he playing ncg
3 is he traveling to ngc
4 is he on campus
5 is he registered
6 what did he have for breakfast

Or the same for Green and his availability.

We could go on.

I think there is a middle ground. The likely hood of having page one dominated by 15 page threads is next to zero. But. ..I do get your point which is why I suggested capping off the page number and starting a new thread.

I think there is a way to "clean it up" without stifling a topic. Jmho

Thanks again for the reply
