I won't say that Dabo never leaves Clemson, but I will say that when he does, he has more that proved that NC can be won from Clemson, and getting to the playoffs can be done from Clemson. So if Dabo was to up and leave, getting a big name HC to Clemson won't be near as hard as it would have been before Dabo!!!

I'm old and forgetful, but I thought there was a clause that Alabama was the only team he could go to if he left Clemson. There must be some details I don't remember

He can go anywhere he wants. If he goes to Alabama, the payout increases. So you actually have it kind of backwards.

As I recall, the buyout was higher if he went to Bama. Nothing saying he couldn't go elsewhere.
I haven't seen a single good reason that Dabo would leave Clemson. And don't say money. Clemson has taken very good care of him in that regard.

I will pay IPTAY , purchase football season tickets, and attend the games no matter who is coaching Clemson. I am not getting worried about who Dabo is talking to. If he wants to coach somewhere else, good for him. He does need to realize that if he takes another college head coaching job, he will destroy his legacy at Clemson. He will probably destroy Clemson football and everything that he has built here too.
