Dabo's Challenge and Vision

I was surprised to see Clemson have a rally and Dabo speak at it, when other schools have done nothing. And Dabo didn't just speak, he made a call for us to have a spiritual awakening, and to address racial inequality:

"I believe with all my heart that God stopped the world in 2020 so we would have perfect vision and clearly see the social and racial injustice and changes that need to occur in our society."

Yet on this site, there has been little, if any, discussion about such changes. Instead, the comments are more political, complaining, ridicule - suggesting that addressing racial inequality is, as Trump says, letting the 'left-wing mob' take control and jeopardize what America stands for.

From what I have seen, Dabo didn't listen to politicians or news sites. He listened to his players and those close to him.

And Dabo didn't add 'All lives matter' or fret that 'Black Lives Matter is Marxist' He was very clear:

"Black lives more than matter. Black lives significantly matter and equally matter. And for too long that has not been the case in the black community. Now is the time to push for equal justice and no longer tolerate police brutality or racism of any kind in this country."

That's really a clear call to action. How many here are willing to heed it? Or how many will give it lip service and work to undermine changes that would address it?

Dabo also said who should work toward the goal of equal justice:
"But as you saw today and moving forward, it has to be everyone's responsibility to be more aware and to learn and to speak out against racial inequality."

And Dabo mapped out a simple path to start:
"But first, we must understand and we must learn and we must listen.

Finally, he didn't worry about 'where things will finally stop with changes such as renaming Tillman Hall'. He did say "We can't change history, but we can learn from it, and there are certain things that we should no longer honor, glorify, or celebrate in this year of 2020."

So I sit back and wonder, given my tremendous respect of Dabo, how can his vision be delivered? If he is worried about his player's cries, then how can we not be?

How as a fan base can we understand, learn, and listen? How as a fan base can we push for equal justice and speak out against racial inequality?

Dabo doesn't have a "vision", he's just a good guy and a football coach who believes in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus, and turns boys into men. Apparently you haven't paid attention.

Meanwhile,parts of our heritage,and history,good,bad ugly ,or indifferent is being swept under the rug, removed from the history books,regulated to museums or dingy basements,toppled in the street in the name of social injustice and by minorities,demonstrators,protesters,and a radical left wing agenda.
Anybody care to discuss that vision.

History is being made right now...Looting, stealing, murder disrespecting police and the rule of law and it all comes from the same group that it has always come from! The disenchanted have never seen the vision or in many cases have not cared to see it! When a push for systematic equality started many in the black community many had already accepted the dream and was making it work for them.
Others wanted the government to mandate a dream to make skin color disappear and those who did not grasp the dream to be granted a special place, 'but not based on the color of ones skin' just as it should be! Somehow rioting and looting and burning property and murder and other felonies including the drug trade did not matter...just speed bumps along the road to equality! Now because of CNN & the marxist media we can watch on TV as anarchy spreads, calls for police to be defunded, police supposedly murdering a narcotic infested felon passing fake $20 bills! Those who trust their local pot, meth, cocaine, fentanyl dealer more than the police now are trying to call the shots...that's the legacy of the Hillary & Bill generation...Poor dabo needs to go to the eye doctor to have his vision examined...he's trying to do the right thing but denying what the right thing is...WWJD!

Well...first and foremost I don't let other people do my critical thinking for me. So while I respect Dabo as a Christian and a Football Coach, I'm not asking/wanting social justice commentary or political advice from him. Dabo's opinions on matters outside of his area of expertise (i.e. Clemson Football) are of no real importance to me just as those opinions of Hollywood actors, pro athletes, and media talking heads are of no importance.

If Dabo feels compelled to give some milquetoast, boilerplate dialog regarding a hot social issue then he is within his rights to do so. But I'm also within my rights to think through these issues for myself and study what is driving them to form my own opinions.

I'll refrain for commenting on some of your underlying assumptions in the rest of your post (the OP) but will leave you with this thought:

If you believe an organized angry mob whose objective is to intimidate others into silence and submission are the best voices to make governing policy and to determine what is just and equal, then there will come a day when you probably won't like the results. Mob rule always devolves into tyranny - you don't fix injustice or inequality by inviting more of it through mob intimidation.

I am trying to stay clear of most of these comments but I had to laugh at your argument about mob rule. My thoughts went to a revolution, circa 1776, when an angry mob protested and turned to a violent rebellion.

"Mob rule always devolves into tyranny - you don't fix injustice or inequality by inviting more of it through mob intimidation."

So when should we fight against tyranny? Long live the King George.

I would argue that 1776 was not mob rule but I will entertain your false premise for a moment and ask what was the defining ideology of the "1776 mob" that was formalized in the Declaration of Independence? I'll give you hint - it is found in these words:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That, whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."

Now please tell me what the defining ideology of the BLM, ANTIFA and street rioters? What are their guiding principles? What does their methods, signs and slogans reveal about their motivations and goals? What and where is their formalized manifesto?


As Matthew so wisely advised us thousands of years ago: "You will know them by their fruits". Those of us with brains readily recognize this particular brand of mob fruit and know very well that it comes from that old rotten tree called Marxism...

Unfortunately you see it as... well, "black and white". Either everyone agrees with you - or they're undermining you - being subversive, working against you - let's say it, being Racist". Wow, if only life were so ridiculously simple. Have you ever thought that YOUR perspectives simply doesn't hold for all... or even possibly the majority? Have you ever actually thought?

You complain about police brutality. Well, let's see; I'm 50+ and white, and I've been arrested twice in my life; handcuffed and ridden in the back of the Police car, once handcuffed and taken right out of my Father's driveway, and both times kept overnight in jail as well.

Both times the charges were dropped within 30 days. Both times Civil action against the Accuser resulted in judgements my way. Notably, I did not sue the Police.

And oh, did I mention, I am a Professional with a Master's degree and three National professional certifications. I've held C- positions for the last 20 years. I don't Drink. I don't Smoke. I have never done Drugs - not even pot. I even quit both Running and playing Golf so I could be at home more to help with the kids. Either situation could have destroyed my career/life - and without any basis at all. I dunno - maybe they mistook me for 50 Cent or something. lofl

There's two anecdotal points that have come to my attention in the last several weeks. Both from Youtube. One speaker stated that "80% of Black children in the 60's grew up with two parents. Now only 20% do."

The second was Denzel Washington and his point was simple: "It starts in the home." When asked why he felt that way, Mr. Washington replied, "They're not arresting 7 years old are they?" Funny isn't it, how a little analysis just kills rhetoric.

I started a post the other day. I gave you, and everyone like you, a simple solution as to how to Quickly change things. I said, "Change the way you Vote. Your racial Community has been voting as a Block for 70+ years, and it's done you no good - in your words, "no good".

So my suggestion is to be stop being Bigoted about Your Vote - vote Republican for three straight Elections and see if their Economic policies make a difference. I would suggest to you that if 70% of Blacks voted Republican in 2020, 2024, and 2028, you'd see more ACTUAL movement from both the Republicans AND the Democrats on policies to help the African-American Community than you had ever seen before.

Your choice: 70 years of Rhetoric, or using Democracy the way it is supposed to be used. As always, it's not Dabo's choice and it's not mine - it's your Choice.
