Dabo should stop comparing kids that haven't done anything

A few weeks ago, Dabo said CK2 was like DW4. It led to headlines like, “Cade Klubnik: Clemson QB reminds Dabo Swinney of Deshaun Watson” and sensational hot takes like, “The hype around Klubnik is building, and Dabo Swinney’s recent quotes comparing him to former star quarterback and National Champion Deshaun Watson will surely fuel the hype even further.” [both a real headline and exert from an article]

However, context matters. If you read between the lines of what Dabo actually said… he was saying that Cade makes mistakes but responds, and that reminds him of Watson. That might have been a subtle indicator that we should expect some mistakes from CK2 this season. I have confidence he’ll grow into a great QB - he has all the ingredients but that cake isn’t baked yet. Needs more time in the oven.

I’ll end my rant but I just feel like a lot of the preseason talk gave folks (myself includes) extremely high expectations. Media definitely helped fan that flame too.

I agree with you 100%... and we have a long way to go to see what this Tiger team is made of. Perhaps Duke competes for the ACCCG. Only time will tell.

In our second Natty, with DW4, we barely beat Troy and people were humming and hawing, but it turns out Troy was a very good team that year.

What sticks out this year that I haven't heard any season prior is the chatter about winning the Natty from Dabo and many players. I have never heard any of that out of Dabo or a Dabo team. It was always about the five goals and taking it one game at a time.

What changed? Is it the times? But... it was obvious Duke came out ready to play and we did not. We need to come out and be ready to play FAU and better handle business before looking ahead to FSU.

I truly think the Duke loss will be forgotten shortly and I do feel very good about our chances vs FSU (I can look ahead, the team can not). ND has a very tough road through Ohio St and USC.... but... and its a big but... but, if ND comes to the valley undefeated, and we can find a way to stop their running attack and win the turnover margin. I think a CFP is completely in our hands. And who knows.... we might have a re-match in Charlotte vs Duke.
