I love Dabo too, but he doesn’t have all the answers.
As he has said, winning is hard. At this level, mistakes get amplified. We have made a lot of them in recent years.
I’m optimistic that our decline has rekindled a fire in Dabo and that he realizes that love and culture can’t overcome bad coaching.
I’m encouraged by the staff changes he has made recently. They are a clear step up from the kind of coaches he was hiring and promoting the last few years.

The fact that he is making changes proves he willing to change… I will give him the benefit of these changes…. I think the last two years has reopened his eyes and I look forward to Dabo’s ability to change….. Pehaps I’m naive, could be true since I’m 70+ years old.
However, I have set in those stands since the 50’s rooting for my Tigers.
Dabo, I truly hope you are really to make us contender again…. You certainly have my vote!

We got all we could out of DJ and finished in the top 15 twice while he was starter.
Cade isn’t there yet, obviously, but nonetheless turnovers and a missed kick are CLEARLY why we lost all 4 games this year.
By your assertion however, Brad has developed one good team in 13 years. The headscratching and embarrassment of the losses we suffer are 100% on Brad Brownell. He can’t blame it on a mediocre point guard or unforced errors. 100% coaching fail.
When you can admit Brad has sucked for most of 13 years and it was 100% his fault, then you can try to drag down the most successful sports program in school history.
Dabo built it. Why hasn’t Brad? Coaching that’s why.

I agree about the QB thing. If DJU could have preformed at at least a top 25 level, we would have been in 8 straight playoffs. Cade has not lived up to expectations either. Sometimes it happens. We need to do better in recruiting and development, as well as picking up a few gems from the portal to fill in the gaps. Hope Dabo can make the tweaks.

JK is spot on here whether others want to admit it or not. Nothing he said in his post is wrong.
He didn’t “drag” Dabo or the program in anyway.
He’s also correct about the improvement in the coaching hires instead of hiring friends and buddies.
We can not like to acknowledge the drop off but it doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened bc it certainly has.
Also when yall come back and put down Brownell and the bball program to make your point about the football program you look incredibly stupid and all you’re doing is taking a shot at another Clemson program. A program which most claim to pull for.
I’m no Brownell fan either and think he should have been gone a long time ago but as I type this I believe he has his best team. So taking shots at the bball program to prop up the football program is just downright stupid and ridiculous.

*169-43 record (80%)
*3 "down" seasons
Clemson Basketball Under Brownell:

That might be all well and good if you don't consider the source. He is constantly haranguing the football program every chance he gets and occasionally he purposely puts something out there that sounds reasonable only to follow it up with another shot, usually shortly after.
Is our program "down" from making 6 straight playoffs? Sure it is. But us being "down" is still a Top 25 program which is hardly "down" by most people's definition. We've been blessed with 2 generational QBs back to back and we recruited two top rated QBs to follow them. One did not pan out like we hoped and the other is yet to be determined. Even with the challenges last year, we MIGHT have made the playoffs if not for that 1 point self-inflicted loss to SC. I say might because you can't say for sure how the committee would have voted but it would have been down to us and Ohio State for that last playoff spot. So really, we've had 2 years where we weren't in the hunt for a playoff spot.
I agree on the coaching point. I didn't agree at the time with Dabo's choices but I understood Dabo's loyalty to the staff and wanting to promote from within. The problem was they simply weren't ready. I know he hoped they would grow into the roles and I think Wes has, but the others just didn't pan out.
Playoffs every year is certainly the goal but that isn't always going to work out. If Cade has a great offseason and comes back looking like the guy we thought he would be, next year will be a lot of fun and perhaps a return to old glory.

You, Judge, can’t try to drag down Dabo without acknowledging the lack of similar accomplishments in the basketball program. Brad is living on a team that he barely needs to coach, and when the roster is depleted next year it’s a certainty we’ll return to what he has shown as his coaching ability or lack thereof.
We need great or elite level QB, just like all the great teams have. We literally lost 4 games this year because of unforced errors and a missed kick, otherwise the excellent coaching had us line to be undefeated right now.

I don’t put down Coach Brownell. But your description below fits what JK does to Dabo and the football team on a consistent basis. Just like he did in this thread. Just reverse bball program and football program and you have described a typical JK post.

I respectfully disagree with you JK about Dabo. With all of the changes in college athletics especially college football many times have taken a few steps back. Bama because they are Bama got into the CFP’s it was gift. IMO it was not an earned spot. The CFPC basically screwed FSU and the ACC. They were pressured to select an SEC team because of TV $$$$$$$$$$$$$. OSU, UGA, Texas , OU all took steps back due the chaos we use to call college football. And many teams that fell flat on their butts like TCU, 1 and done LSU. Auburn, NC, Tennessee and several more schools that had adversity this season. But we still have a chance to win 9 games. Because of NIL $$$$ and the TP it’s much harder to recruit or much less keep a roster together and develop young talent.
I am investing my money Dabo stock as our HC whose has won 2 National Championships, 8 or more ACC championships, 12- 10 win seasons, recruitment of Trevor Lawerence considered the #1 recruit in modern college football and DW both generational talents. In fact I will say they have been the best QB’s to play at Clemson, wins over several SEC teams included an a$$ whipping we gave Bama for the 2018 NC. The only HC whose program shut out Urban Meyers’s OSU team, the only shut out in Urban Meyers’s tenure as a college HC. We have some great football talent so Dabo could make another great run. I am putting trust in a proven winner in football and in real estate.
Dabo also recruited and coached some of the best WR’s to play at Clemson. Mike Williams, Tee Higgins, Sammy Watkins, Hunter Renfrow, along with several other great talents. RB ETN and defensive players that now play in the NFL.
Maybe he doesn’t have all the answers but based on Dabo’s success he has my support. HC’s. A great head coach like Dabo surrounds himself with a great support team. I believe Dabo made those moves for the 2024 season that will makes us a better team.
Who would hire to replace Dabo ???
You ask us ever year to give Brad Brownell support who I believe is a good coach but he has not come close to Dabo’s accomplishments. Many have supported Coach B. He is having a great start to 2023 but like Dabo says we have to finish. So let’s see had rad finishes. By the way I support Coach Brownell and feel he has been successful as is possible at Clemson. I dont know of a head coach that could be any more successful than Coach Brownell.
IMO our football program is not in a decline and did not underachieve the last 3 years. Like other programs we are having to make adjustments to the Wild Wild West that use to be college football. I believe it will take more money than before to maintain a talented roster every year. I believe winning National Championships is more difficult now more than ever. But I dont know of another HC that I believe in more than Dabo Swinney.
