Well I have to agree with you on that, and what Dabo said about it watering down the playoffs bc that is exactly what it will do. I guess they don't care about top quality FB game anymore, they just want to use a college sport to fill their pockets. I probably want see it, but the day will come that colleges across American will get tired of the bullchit they are connecting to college sports, and they go back to what what college was built on, that is to educate our young people for their future in an ever more industrial world!!! That is when they will tell all the money struck folks that want to make millions off what the colleges started, if you want the most of the money, build your own stadiums and deal with the bullchit on your own!!!!

more excitement to the game? You know if we weren’t one of the few teams that have made it consistently to the playoffs that we’d all be happy about this change.

It kills the idea multiple very good teams will go out with a win and feel great about the season.
11 will lose their last game, only Clemson will win the closer!

What am I missing here?

Are teams going to be able to “clinch” a spot in the CFP before their final game? Surely not, I hope. And if not, I am not sure why anyone would mail it in the final game of the season, and especially during rivalry week. Pretty arrogant to assume you can get in the playoffs with a poor performance, or even a loss, the final week.
Maybe I am missing something, but not sure I agree with Dabo here and his comparison to the NFL. If it went to 20 or 24 teams, maybe.

You can lose 3-4 games during the season, win your division in the conference and maybe play a 12-0 Clemson in ACCCG and get lucky and win because CU starting QB goes down on opening play. How is having guaranteed Conference winners that potentially have multiple losses not watering down the playoffs. It puzzles me how people can't see that the product on the field is gonna go down with 12 teams. Once this happens, if you lose 1 game it doesn't really matter, you will still be in.
And at the end of the season, you are going to have the same 4-5teams as the Nat Champ and I don't have to name them. Its all about the mighty dollar.

not missing anything. In fact, 8 or 12 teams gives even MORE motivation to most teams to keep playing hard to get in, because now they have a fighting chance, and Cinderella can still visit the ball. That's still not that many teams. Did Dabo forget that the NFL has 32 teams and something like a third get in?

Still a reason to be competitive up to the last week of the regular season. This is not the worst idea in college football within the last 3 years.

Why do these media idiot types keep coming up with 12? Why not just 8? 12 just doesn’t work mathematically. Each power 5 champ and the best remaining 3. But, still, even that will be blowout game after blowout games.

Slight modification. Each power 5 champ and then play 3 other games on the same day as the conference championships. Those 3 games would have the highest 6 ranked teams that are not playing in conference championship games. Winners advance to quarterfinals. That basically creates a 16 team playoff and everyone plays the same number of games. Giving byes, especially to the best 4 teams just isn’t fair.

There are a bunch of ways to look at this but the most important is to finish as one of Top 4 seeds to get a bye. Staying in the ACC and winning the Conference should be enough to be in the Top 4 and that is what we should be excited about.

Dabo is the ultimate Adaptor. His view when it was four was

that he liked four. Now, it doesn't matter whether he really DID like four or not, he knew that was what he had to work with. Now, he knows that twelve is what he has to work with.
Only worry about controlling the things you can control, why waste time with worry about things beyond your control? Good words to live by.

Might make the annual coot beat down more competitive. Bear with me here. Most years we will already know we are playing the next week in the ACC Championship game. Rest our starters to get healthy prior to that game. Play Scar with 2nd and 3rd stringers and only beat them by 14 or so. Sounds kinda like the NFL last week of the season.

I would like it if one of the "cupcake" games were to be dropped. If there is going to be extra post-season games, then drop at least one regular season game.

Here's what 12-team playoff woulda looked like since 2014...

CBS Sports listed the 12-team seeding that would have occurred since the start of the 4-team CFP playoff 8 years ago. I tallied the woulda-been appearances by conference. It confirms my fear that the B1G & SEC teams will dominate the playoffs and generate even more revenue for the 2 richest conferences. The rich get richer.
