Dabo is not leaving Clemson

The buyout of his contract would be outrageous.
Having said that…. Clemson is a destination HC job now just like Alabama, Texas, Michigan, osu, etc.
I do not look forward to the day Dabo retires from Clemson, but it will be interesting to see how much different the coaching search will be. The amount of quality coaches that will reach to us instead of the other way around will be crazy compared to what it probably was when Dabo was named HC.

There are ways around the buyout.

It's ridiculous how low the buyout is if Dabo leaves

on his own accord.
Conversely, if we fire him without cause in the next 5 years, we owe him anywhere from $57 million to $64 million.
Interestingly, according to this article, there is no buyout if Dabo leaves to coach in the NFL:

I don't know if it is or is not "ridiculous", but I 'magine it's in line & "market" driven - could be higher than similar?
The parties/principles could also be taken into consideration.

I think it's appropriate given the one-sided contracts today

but I still think it's ridiculous that the school takes on so much more risk.
I don't see any way around it from the school's perspective though.

We should look at the Wofford or Furman coach to keep the search local.
Shane Beamer might be the closest substitute to Dabo if we could get a coach like him.
Ok, I just began to throw up a little even though it’s a joke...lol

Who would want to take the Bama coaching job...the bar is way up there, same for Clemson...there was no bar for Texas A&M or LSU or Florida and at LSU the bar was out of booze anyway! Those things which Dabo has left with Clemson are special and hardly available anywhere else! TCU did a great job getting their coach from SMU and he is also special...A.B. at Baylor was caught in a circumstance that he could not extricate himself from even if he tried! Jimbo made his own problems at FSU and its taking this long for them to get out from under his shadow! With Thanksgiving coming up lets be thankful for Dabo! Just be thankful we did not hire those other duds!

The buyout of his contract would be outrageous.
The buyout is low...it will not have any impact on a school's decision to offer a job to Dabo. But, he's not leaving, so it doesn't matter.
