What, a starting QB benched

Oklahoma QB benched at halftime down by 18. Going 9 for 16, 112 yards and 1 int. The back up QB went 15 for 24 and 211 yards with 2 TDS. Oklahoma was down by 18 when QB benched and won the game by 7.
What a concept when a starting QB is doing poorly is benched and a back up QB leads them to a victory.

And I think that’s a snub to Our 2nd string QB that when he committed, I recall we were stoked!!

When we had the number one QB as a freshman on the bench as Oklahoma does now. Our current bench wouldn’t start at any other P5 schools so I’m not sure what your getting at. Dabo would make a move if there was one to make. Next year will have the number one freshman on the bench again so DJ will need to step up his game.

DJ is statistically one of the worst QBs in the FBS. I thought he's be a superstar, but he isn't. You can still pretend the coaches are these geniuses that cannot be questioned, but the backups can't do worse.

Not really. The guy on their bench was going start next season. Not even similar. Very few schools have another 5 star on their bench. It's more like how we had Trevor Lawrence last year with DJU on the bench. DJU is sophomore. It's not like we will have another 5 star sitting behind him. Next year we will though.

TP has shown nothing in his career that indicates he would even be a serviceable backup let alone a capable starter, even before the recent injury,
Bench DJ for him and you get no better production with a QB controversy.
If we had Caleb Williams or anyone worth investing snaps in as a backup, then maybe consider a QB change, but that isn’t the case.
Right now, we mind as well ride it out with DJ and invest in next year.

Are you serious? The point of the post is they tried something different. They didn’t continue to try and drive a square peg into a circular hole. Stars are a good indicator of the talent level one possesses. But not a guarantee. We might have another “5star” behind DJ, but we have capable QBs. The reason you’ve seen nothing is that they haven’t tried anything. We could have a 3star guy go out and shock the world. But we won’t know, unless our inept coaches try.

I understand your point completely. I just have a sense that DJ is the best QB on the roster unfortunately. I also wonder if the transfer portal effects coaches decisions (especially with a kid from CA). I admittedly screamed at Dabo the entire 2017 season to put in Hunter or Zerrick. 4 years later I recognize Dabo was correct and KB was the best QB on that team. In 2018 he wasn't and Dabo made the switch
