Crazy depth chart

I don't think I have ever seen a depth chart like FSU's on offense. They have 6 seniors, 19 juniors and only 4 freshmen or sophomores. They do have quite a few freshmen and sophomores on defense so they must have a bunch of skill players leave the program. We have 28 total freshmen and sophs so the future looks good.

You don't need a bunch of FR and SO if you're willing to use the transfer portal.

FSU already has a portal stud WR who is beeching after getting targeted only 3 times against BC.

This is the problem with star power portal players. They are more likely to be locker room cancer if their individual stats don’t get puffed up each game.

aTm is the poster child for NIL mediocrity. LSU struck gold on transfers (pre-portal era) once. They try portal as the means to build a roster; their overall play has not justified their high poll status ratings over the past two years of intensive use of the portal. TN will fall back this year, despite playing the weakestbAL team since Alabama’s 2007 team.

The portal isn’t magic success.

Some teams will be in a constant cycle of youth due to the transfer portal. Other teams will be made into a junior and senior laden roster each year because of the portal. I’d take the former over the latter if you’ve got a coaching staff that can develop players. Much more consistent program and the best players remain on the team if they aren’t “me first” listen to the tampering offers to enter the portal.

In my opinion, the right answer is to use the portal on a very limited basis to fill 2 or 3 gaps in the depth chart so you don’t end up like we have at LB this season.
