I've never been so naive so as to believe that any politician is 100% honest with the American voters, always shooting straight without ever compromizing their values (to the extent they have any). Everything is a carefully calculated play designed toward reaching some goal.

Sadly, I think we've all been conditioned to accept that reality, at least on some level, and when it's "our guy" doing it, instead of going "Whoa, hold on just a dang minute! That's not right!", we've taken to deflecting and defending, and instead of saying "Yep - he's full-o-shid; he's a liar and he has failed", we blame the media or talk about how bad the other guy is.

And here we are. We, the American people can fix this. Don't accept "your guy" just because he's on one particular side and not the other. Recognize when your guy is wrong or fails, and call them out. Don't vote for people who lie or can't own their failures. Don't vote for people who, when faced with choices, consistently don't do the right thing.

But here we are. Let's quit making excuses. Wake up and do better. We need better choices.
