now he has enough $$ (with a ridiculous retirement plan), and differs all non-gameday preparation to assistant coaches

He would absolutely return...he is an alumnus and would love to be the savior of Florida athletics. He has not achieved anything more than 5th place in the SEC, and the table is set there for competing another championship...I think Spurrier would go, no question and have a coach in waiting...with his ego, he would love to do this, as he is just another washed up has been at USuC

I think if they continue to lose at the Chicken house this year then he'll leave and try to save face by saying he'd been waiting for this opportunity at his great university. Then the craptastics will go out and find another coach to come in and help them be them. Life is great when you don't have to hear over 200,000 idiots who wear a shirt that says I love ##### as I always said history will repeat itself.

If he does leave USuCk high and dry, he would probably lose his Augusta membership.

So that will make him second guess things.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sure but why would Florida want him.....

Oct 21, 2014, 8:32 AM

Slurrier has effectively maxed-out at $CU and he knows it, so I can see him wanting to go back and resurrect the program he built for ego purposes but from Florida's perspective, I think there are other better coaches out there.

UF isn't gonna hire a 70 yr old.

It's just not gonna happen.

Depends on how much they stroke his ego. He left, because of the critics during his last two seasons felt he deserved a pass for what he'd done for the program. If you remember he didn't tell anyone he was quitting he faxed UF after the orange bowl against Maryland and let them know he wasn't coming back.

If all that happens I think the Scar could end up with a better coach in my opinion...I just could see Mark Dantonio taking that job for sure...played there and he has done a heck of a job and the $EC would pay him...def a guy I would not want to see get it when the Ol Ball Sack calls it quits

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dantonio leaving MSU for $CU would be taking a step backward..

Oct 21, 2014, 8:52 AM

plus he's already making close to $4 million annually at MSU.

Oct 21, 2014, 9:27 AM

I didn't know he was making that much, but he played there and you know the "lure" of the SEC, I wouldn't necessarily put it past anyone to leave a bigger program for the SEC...also I agree he shouldn't leave bc he has built a heck of a program that seams to be in the top 10 every year and he plays in a league with the new playoffs that sets up nicely for him...im just saying he would be a guy I would think they would def go after...I don't think Slurrier is goin anywhere right now though...its just one bad year, now if they do the same next year like maybe 6-6 or 7-5 I could def see that maybe being a possibility... I personally think when he leaves they will take a step back...I think he is the ONLY reason some of these big time recruits are heading to Columbia is bc of him...we will see

Next year could be another tough year for $CU....

Oct 21, 2014, 9:43 AM

Next year they will breaking-in a new QB with very little if any actual game experience and several new O lineman.

Even if Spurrier brings in Muschamp, the defense will still be a work in progress.

With games against UNC, Georgia, Missouri, LSU, A&M, Tennessee, Florida and Clemson, winning seven or more games in 2015 may be a real challenge for them.

I def agree... and the possibility of Davis leaving and I think they may even lose a couple WR... I don't think the def will magically get that much better over the off season though...they are pretty bad. I could def see them going 6-6 or 7-5 next year and who knows what that does to Spurrier or the program...I know ppl like to say well I want them to be good so its sweeter when we play and beat them, F that I love seeing them lose especially the way that fan base has become after tasting a little bit of winning...if they had a little more class I would say yea I would love some big games, but after all the crap I have heard I will gladly sit back and watch them settle back to where they were about 10 years ago.

Nope, his family is all in Columbia. His son has triplets and they are very happy with their private school and don't plan to move them. His wife has told him that she won't leave either. (This is all based on reports from my friend who also has triplets who are friends with the Spurrier triplets.) I think they are set on staying in Columbia unless the grandchildren leave.

No way UF wants him.
Sure, he played a critical role in developing the Gator football program, but he also left a lot of blemishes (why don't people hear much about the CDV, burglary, assault, and gambling under his nose at UF? And that's just Mangus haha). Then there's the fact that Spurrier is 70, and would have to go through the interview process and be evaluated just like any other candidate (I believe this happened before, no?)

UF if is first and foremost a top-tier academic institution, and an excellent athletic institution secondarily. They're not desperate for the schmutz Spurrier will bring, especially when Muschamp has brought some of his own. I see a house cleaning occurring in Gainesville.

If and when Otis spurrier leaves USCheat

Oct 21, 2014, 9:54 AM

You can bet he will throw the entire program under a great big bus. His ego would never allow him to believe that it was anything but an impossible task to ever win a conference football championship at Coot college. He will make sure the world knows that USCheat is an abyss NO ONE can fix.
