It feels Impossible to have quality depth

these days. We constantly lose guys left and right in the portal and now in recruiting. We finally get some guys in the portal, then another at that position bolts....this is just crazy and hard to keep up a quality roster.

that's why it's imperative to have TOP TALENT at the starting positions.........something we've been lacking overall compared to our 2015-2019 years.........and that top talent needs to be acquired utilizing ALL resources available....portal, HS, NIL, etc...

Yeah nobody wants to sit and wait their turn anymore, if they feel they should start right now, they will bounce around until they do.

To have top talent at all positions as the starters, then extensive use of the portal would be necessary. For us, that would mean only Peter Woods, TJ Moore, Sammy Brown, Barrett Carter, Cade Klubnik, and Jake Briningstool would have been in our current roster as layers coming from the HS ranks.
The problem with acquiring all of the other known top end talent via the portal is that we wouldn’t have the money to be able to out-compete the numerous other schools that are committed to obtaining top end talent via whatever means are necessary.
Furthermore, if we took your suggested approach, then very good (but lesser talent, as of their HS senior years) wouldn’t choose Clemson.
That means zero of our current O-linemen. No TJ Parker. No Wade Woodaz. No Ashton Hampton. No Bryant Wesco (remember, he was only a lowly 4* WR). It goes on and on.
To add insult to injury, none of high quality backups would be here. They’d know that they would be sent to the side as soon as a portal stud arrived, so they would go to the school with the highest NIL bid instead of Clemson.

You're exactly right. It's hard to really put your heart and soul into even cheering for kids on your team anymore like the real college football years because you don't know half of them and have to worry about the other half leaving for $

I know, redshirting someone is basically saving them a year for another team. It use to be redshirt a guy to have an extra year when they guys in front of them at their position are gone. Now it really is pretty pointless.

Actually hurts your chance of keeping them. They get impatient and just leave if they don't see the field immediately.

in the hearts of their teammates. We play those who perform the best and those who are progressed enough to be functional. That's in the belief that they will develop to be regular in the rotation.
The bigger the Tnet forum gets the further down the IQ chart this body of fans fall.
