The Cool School
The Cool School Several years ago when South Carolina was struggling in the first few seasons under Steve Spurrier, he said they needed to recruit better players, and the easiest way for that to happen is to turn South Carolina into a cool place to go to school. Spurrier was able to make S

And in doing it the right way while sending mature young men with degrees out into the world as great ambassadors.
At Clemson we do it right!

and remarkably unlike a lot of other programs, there doesnt appear to be a shred of interest from NCAA compliance, unless you ask a coot.

There is a reason for that. We do comply! It really is just that simple, and we prove that a team doesn't have to cheat to win big. I wouldn't trade what we have at Clemson for any other anywhere, but I bet most others would trade theirs for ours in a heart beat.

lmao...Spurrier turned usuck into the "cool school"

and it was almost IMMEDIATELY placed on NCAA probation for 3 years. It was "cool" to start re-negging on scholarships for kids who'd put in the work for a couple of years but became deadweight as the level of recruiting began to pick up (mysteriously coinciding with a downturn in Clemson's football fortunes). usuck and their poorly educated fans tacitly approved the "SEC mercenary" approach to their football program because in their alcohol/meth fueled tiny brains they assumed their few years of football success would last forever. Ethics took a back seat
Then the norm returned: Clemson began to rise, their legendary coach preferred all 19 holes at the country club to recruiting and like a coward quit on "his" players mid-season because the victories weren't coming and his reputation was far more important. Decootments, hiring a second-rate replacement coach, a major drop-off in recruiting......back to the usual.
Of course, some things never changed.....criminal charges against players and staff hardly changed and the academic level remained an embarrassment to the entire state

Brad "Bagman" Lawing left.
Just a personal opinion, but I think that's what really took the air out of Slurrier. Once he found out the only way to recruit at USuC was Lawing's way.
On the Lawing front, it's funny seeing the Criminoles now after knowing what he did at Florida.
