hey grandpaw, what's for supper?

Jul 17, 2016, 6:21 PM

on one our hottest days of the summer so far, we're grilling marinated pork tenderloin. A cajun seasoning/coarse ground mustard/orange juice/ worchestershire sauce/Grand Marnier marinade. Sides will be fresh kale from our garden, fresh local Botetourt Silver Queen corn, and cole slaw. Haven't decided about grilling vs microwaving the corn. May grill the last of a loaf of italian bread if it ain't moldy.

Washed down with margaritas. Gotta get busy on that mix.

Grilled white peaches for dessert.

Whatayahavin'?

will prolly microwave in the husks without removing the silk until cooked. This is easy and works great.

I made Vietnamese Summer Rolls earlier this afternoon......

I deviated from some of the ingredients. Mine were Shrimps, bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, serrano chilis and avocado. I don't care for peanut sauce so used Hoisin sauce for dipping.

Spruce Pine puts on a nice little competition and it's a great excuse to get up out of the heat.

They pair it with a Bluegrass Music Festival so it is a great weekend in the mountains for a flat lander like me.

Simple - homemade crab cakes served on slices of tomatoes

Jul 17, 2016, 7:10 PM

Mustard sauce to flavor and a salad on the side. Not a lot but still filling with a great after-taste. Oh, and birthday cake for Mrs. Maddog after a great weekend treating her down at The Homestead.
