Neighbors have lived beside each other for years. One neighbor has always been perceived, wealthier and more "blue blooded"! The Wealthier neighbor has aprox. 4 to 5 high dollar cars. the lesser neighbor has 2. The wealthier neighbor goes out and buys an corvette, and a Austin Healy. The lesser neighbor panics, not to be out done, he buys a Gremlin and a Nova. He has added just as many cars as his neighbor, but not nearly the caliber. Simply stated, Tiger brethren, we do not need, UCF,USF, Cincy or West Virginia! Quantity does not = Quality or dollars! No, I do not have the perfect solution, but lets not freak out and add lemons just to make the yard look full!
Continuing your analogy, lets face facts, there are just not

enough comparable cars around that we could add to the ACC, even if they wanted to join, to make it equal to the SEC in football. The ONLY option that would add SOME schools of value would be an ACC/Big 10 merger. But, that would make a way too large, unwieldy superconference. Now, if we could cherry pick Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Penn State, which would entice Notre Dame to join, that would be something that might approach the SEC in overall quality.
Reality is, the SEC is one superior team, and three to five other, revolving good teams from year to year. The dregs of the SEC are no better than the dregs of the ACC.
