from the 70s and 80s. They had the distinction of having the most top 40 hits (20) without a number 1. I remember "Don't Bring Me Down", "Telephone Line", and "Last Train To London". Didn't know they were into college baseball lol.

When you hear ELO, Smashing Pumpkins , or any Prince band on the radio you’re really hearing Jeff Lynne, Billy Coram, and Prince. The bands were for live events, video, etc.
Boston was typically just Shultz with the drummer and lead vocals by Delp.
Paul McCartney could have played every instrument on Beatles and Wings records.
Lenny Kravitz plays every instrument on his records.
There are others but my brain isn’t awake yet.
