I beotched about Brownell for nearly a decade, but I'm so happy and proud to see what he's doing now, now that the playing field is a little more level. Many ACC schools had big recruiting advantages and strong basketball history that was almost impossible for Clemson to compete with. Now that's evened out some and Brownell doesn't look so incompetent when he has enough real basketball players.
This team is not reliant upon one or two guys, nor one particular style of play. We can win with the 3, we can win with driving to the basket or pulling up from mid-range, or we can win with the inside game, or slowing it down or running. We have multiple guys - like 5 or 6 - who can shoot and score. Brownell's strength has always been effort and defense, and that keeps us in a lot of games until the offense opens up.
Most of my life, UNC/Dook/NCST/Miami/Wake/Maryland/GT etc. were fielding teams filled with NBA type players, and year-in-year-out, we simply could not compete. Now, with better facilities and the transfer portal, we are able to compete. Still, I expect us to run into some teams in the tournament who will be loaded with NBA talent, and the going could get rough. I love this team and not saying we can't win, but there will be some very talented teams in The tournament.
The season ain't over yet, and we can't let up one bit, but I feel good about where we are.
