Coaching changes aside for a moment. You know what I miss?

I miss when coming down the hill was ELECTRIC. I watched the 2007 Clemson/FSU game last night. That hill entrance.... 🔥🔥🔥
Guys so jacked out of their minds they could run through a wall. Coaches having to hold them back. I think it literally took about 30 seconds for all of the team to RUN down the hill.
Etched in my memory forever are scenes of Danny Ford kneeling to the side of the hill, tobacco in mouth, with what looks like a pack of wild, rabid dogs beside him.
Love Dabo and all he has done for the program, I think most of you who have seen my posts over the years know that. But, the arm holding kumbaya session, and the 2 mins it takes for the team to leisurely "trot" down the hill, it just ain't the same.

Yes a million %. And now the cheesy we will rock you song which is so cliche really distracts from the whole thing. Why muck with perfection.
Cannons, a sea of orange balloons, and Tiger rag was all it ever need to be.

I love coach Dabo. But it should be about the players.
Use to be about the Senior leaders at the top of the hill. Players that have been at Clemson for 4/5 years. Players that while being outstanding players but ambassadors for the University. If they get their degree they are solid members of the alumni.
Clemson is tops for graduating % for now. How long will this last.

I agree. It is interesting because Dabo initially fixed the issues Bowden had

with the hill. I remember Bowden's teams would be standing halfway down the hill before the cannon sounded. Dabo did a great job to fix this aspect of it, but now he insists on being first and having the players stand behind him with arms locked.
I assume it's a marketing/self-promotion thing that he has to be first by himself, but I still feel like the whole thing could be more electric than it is now.

electric, and that was before the hill was packed.
I recall a rare home game against Georgia. There were thousands of Clemson and Georgia fans all over the campus and downtown with the atmosphere super-charged. in those days a few members of the Cheer Squad were atop the hill, the rest on the field, and I lucked up to one of those at the top. Those were the days before the DV expansion, so 40-something thousand attending a game was a big deal. What few students and fans that were on the hill were highly-energized, standing, yelling, clapping, and when we appeared, all of Death Valley rose to a monstrous roar.
It was an adrenaline rush from all get out to me, looking across DV, watching and listening to the crowd...a rush that made the hair on my arms rise to the occasion, and when Tiger Band cranked up Tiger Rag, I nearly choked with emotion.
Fast forward to the years after I graduated in 1969, the expansion of DV and the hordes of new alumni and fans, and to those of us in the stands, watching and hearing the hill come to life was indescribably exciting in of itself! I remember thinking I wish we would have packed the hill like that in my day.
Eventually, when word arose about some restraints, allegedly required by some fire marshal were put into effect, I thought one and only one thing: that so-and-so should have been run out of town! Who in the hellll allowed that kind of tradition be tampered with?

I agree that the excitement may not be at the same level, but the pregame walk has added to the excitement of running down the hill! The mindset of the college football player has changed over the last 10 years! I’m a big Danny Ford fan also, but I’m a big Dabo fan also! The coaching brand of a Danny Ford coach is no where to be found in college football today! I coached high school football in the Clemson area and was Graduate Assistant under Coach Ford while getting my masters degree from Clemson and being honest there is not a lot of difference between the two coaches! Now I have seen Coach Ford get in the trenches and physically show a blocking technique with out pads, now Coach Swiney may show a receiver a technique of running a correct route! Dabo may use a different language approach leaving the locker room to board the buses for the hill, but trust someone that has played at that level the adrenaline flows through out the game not just the entrance! I still get excited when the Tigers run down the hill because I have done it and there’s nothing like it!
