2008 All Over Again?
2008 All Over Again? Yesterday we found out that Clemson was picked to win the ACC Championship in the pre-season media poll for the first time since 2008.
The 2008 campaign started out with a pre-season top 10 ranking and lofty expectations. There was talk of Tommy Bowden's first ACC t

As long as we don't give the first carry of the game to a true freshman. That play set the tone for that game and that game set the tone for the season.

We keep talking about the 80s as being the "Glory Days"

and I was a teenager and loved every bit of those wonderful years. Now we are in another generation and are reliving the "Glory Days". I hope they last longer this time and we become a mainstay among the football elite. I have long waited for these days to come back.

The O-line in 2008 was inexperienced...1 or 2 of the O-line that started against Alabama barely played the rest of the year. I think we started a true freshman at DT for most of that 2008. We were weak in the trenches... not this year ... We have the best depth on the front 7 of the D we have had in my memorty, the OL is also deep with starters returning and redshirt freshmen and others that are challenging for playing time or the starting job. And we have better skill players than we had that year. Spiller and Ford were great but I do not think For was better that Watkins or Bryant and maybe not Peake... we will see. At RB we are deeper but probably not better than 2008.

I remember thinking the same thing simply because of the OL and DL.

In that infamous Alabama game...

... didn't we have to call time out before our very first snap? I am not positive about that. But I know the coaching staff did not have us ready and we never had a chance. And I don't think we took them lightly. It's Bama on national TV. Sure they were better than we thought, but there was only one top 10 team there and it sure as heck was not good ole CU.

With all of the preseason hype and media coverage we are getting, I keep having flashbacks to that year. I went down to that game with a friend who was an Alabama Alum. I also had a neighbor who was an Alabama Alum. Horrible weekend that was. And I'd be lying if I said it doesn't cross my mind every time I read something about us this season.

to those who played on the '08 team.
It make me uncomfortable when someone degrades past Clemson players for I honestly believe that most of them did their best and I'll defend them for that.
