I have seen a lot of speculation about why Clemson would travel a player who was showing symptoms, and I've seen members of the national media tweet about why Clemson would do such a thing. I have even been forwarded board posts from FSU where their fans have said they blame Clemson for traveling someone with COVID symptoms. I, for the life of me, don't understand the stupidity. You think Clemson would travel a backup redshirt freshman OL and put the season in jeopardy for a backup OL? Of course not.
Here are the facts, and if I get in trouble then I get in trouble, but I feel like this needs to be said and I'll deal with any fallout from Clemson. The player in question had mild symptoms Sunday and Monday but tested negative. By Tuesday the symptoms were gone. He tested negative. Wednesday, no symptoms, negative test. Thursday, no symptoms, negative test. Friday, no symptoms. At that point, you have to trust the testing process. He was still made to isolate, alone at the back of the plane, alone on the bus, didn't share a room in Tallahassee. Clemson did everything by the book.
In other words, those who think Clemson knowingly traveled a player who could have COVID are wrong. He was not symptomatic in any way.
