Clemson is a statistical outlier in every NCAA model

No one in the modeling buisnesses likes an outlier that proves the model isn't perfect. The easiest way to prevent that outlier is to remove it from the data set. We can all hope that the committee is the in the buisness of basketball not modeling.

Here's what is stated on the NCAA website as the base evaluation process for selecting at-large teams:

Committee members have a wide-range of observation, consultation and data resources available to them throughout the season and during selection week. These resources provide the foundation for a thorough and educated process that is reinforced by the committee member’s discussion and deliberation.

Hopefully this includes the ol' reliable eye test. The website goes into much detail about the process of selecting, seeding and bracket placement. Here's the website link (just keep scrolling down past the videos): https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2023-03-09/how-field-68-di-mens-teams-picked-march-madness-each-season
