Clemson has lost ton of recruits by being in the ACC vs SEC

which is to say we will do even worse in future if things go down hill for the ACC and we stay without FSU or GT or even VT. Seems we don't have much choice but to go where we can survive...financially, academically & in a conference that will be attractive to the star recruits...who love the SEC, and have shown us that lack of love more than once...(take the two RB's out of N.C. who just signed with Georgia).
Go TiGERs!

No, we loose recruits because....

We have a coaching carosel, we blow bowl games and out of conference games, and the media has coined Clemson pulling a Clemson. If we kept the same coaching staff for 5 years or so, and won some big time games, we would get those recruits. But Nkemdiche will not go to a school who just gave up 70 and fired there DC. Just not going to happen.

How do we have a coaching carousel? We kept TB 10 years

when any other serious football school would have fired him after 5, 6 tops.
Also, the most turnover ever at Clemson was from 1969-1979 when we went from Howard to Ingram to Parker to Pell to Ford. That's 5 coaches in 10 years. Yet 1978 we went 11-1 and could have played in the Orange Bowl with a shot at the NC had we been patient. Then in 1981 we won the NC and had the greatest era in CU football.
Seems to me, not just from our own history, but watching Miami and other programs over the years, if a HC doesn't win big or show significant improvement after 3 or 4 years he should be fired. Hanging on to mediocre coaches solves nothing. Every time a new coach comes it it creates excitement and shows a desire to win.
Bobby Bowden turned things around fairly quickly and Miami won a NC with 4 different coaches over a 19 year period.
Beamer at VT is a unique story. It is the exception, not the norm.
The ignorance on this board never ceases to amaze.

Couldn't agree with you more. A lot of people downplay the debacle of the Orange Bowl but it was pulling a Clemson on a national stage. As a FB team, we were utterly defenseless. Do you think the recruits that Clemson was offering watched the game??

Loose? We have a coaching carosel? If we kept the same coaching staff for 5 years or so?
When is the last time we kept a head football coach less than 5 years? As for assistant coaches, I would argue we keep ours at least as long, if not longer, than most schools. Assistant coaches have more turnover, but that's normal in the industry.
I think we absolutely lose some recruits because they want to play in the SEC instead of ACC. The same would be true if we were in any conference though. Some kids just want to play in the SEC for their own reasons. Nothing wrong with that.
