Clemson football staffer's son wins state Gatorade POY

Daniel QB Trent Pearman won his second-straight South Carolina football Gatorade player of the year honor after leading the Lions to another state title this year.
Pearman is the son of Danny Pearman, former tight ends coach/special teams coordinator and current director of football scouting for the Tigers.
He received an offer from UAB last fall and also announced a preferred walk-on offer from Alabama this summer.

Those numbers are most impressive, and he has done it two consecutive years at a high level. With attrition, we have plenty of scholarships and need QB depth. IMO we should always have 5 scholarship QBs, the one position that players are not interchangeable.
Hope we get him.

According to 247 his only offer is UAB. I thin AL offered a preferred walk on.

Congratulations Trent! To win back to back is unreal. I know your family must be proud.

I’ve watched a few games and while he may not have an “elite” arm, I’ve seen him make throws that our current crop of QBs haven’t made.

To see that he doesn't even make the 247 top 247 QBs list ??

2-time state champ, 2-time Gatorade SC POY, undefeated as a starter... They must know he's coming to Clemson.

I’m obviously missing something here but how does a 2-time state Gatorade player of the year only have an offer from UAB? Is the talent that bad in SC?

Would love to have him play for Clemson, if and only he can play QB. Otherwise, he needs to go somewhere he can play QB. Way to go bid D. Back to back, again.
