None of which are seniors. Do we know what this staff is thinking?

Very interesting to view the roster in this format. Just a few thoughts.

85 players isn't very many and no wonder roster management is so important. It might be early, but I see what at this point appear to be a few "misses." We could sure use those spots for portal pickup or two. Also, last minute offers (reach recruits) and inability to contribute early is an issue.

I know we have had lots of success with development over the years and I for one enjoy the guys that stay 4-5 years as you almost feel like you have an opportunity to watch them grow up. However...looking over the roster, I wonder how realistic that is anymore with the constant churn of players.

It seems to me our roster has a pretty good 2-deep, top heavy but drops off fast after that. I think in 2023 the 2-deep will see 95% of the snaps.

Lastly, geez, we are still stacked at DT! WR, ugh...not so much.

I'd be surprised if some of the DT's don't declare for draft

or transfer out after spring ball

You can't declare for the draft after spring ball. The deadline is Jan 16

Greene has played SAM on and off throughout his career in nickel. We play a 4-2-5 plenty in passing situations

11-12 WRs is a lot.

19-20 DEs and DTs is a lot.

17 DBs is a lot.

7 LBs is terrifying.

0 FBs is the worst news I've ever seen.

You're right man. I wish our staff knew what they were doing.

It sucks sucking so much. 21 wins and two top 14 finishes with a broken QB is completely unacceptable. Tnet coaches need to form a collective and advise Dabo. He has no clue how to win football games, obviously.

Ngata is at an All Star game practice so you can pretty much scratch him. Will Taylor will likely remain on scholarship through the spring but go baseball only. Removed for the incoming freshmen over the summer. TD and Ruke are likely gone in spite of the hoping. A DE or two are likely to transfer after the spring as the freshmen compete this spring. I agree LB is thin. Could see more 4-2-5 this year with a safety in the box.

If I interpret correctly

Jan 6, 2023, 7:24 AM

The players using their 'covid' year won't affect the total scholarship number, meaning a program can be over the 85 limit. It's up to the school (or conference in some instances) whether it's allowed. For the schools, it's about budgets...if they can afford it, they may choose to do so.

Re: If I interpret correctly

Covid year athletes do count against the 85 limit. There was a one-year exception to this, only for seniors that returned in 2021 that would have otherwise been out of eligibility after 2020.

So, the quick answer is that we are limited to 85 regardless of Covid at this point.

"Seniors will be permitted to return next year and not count against a sport's roster or scholarship limits. Underclassmen will get access to a waiver they can use to extend their careers, but beyond the 2021-22 academic year, those athletes will count against scholarship and roster limits."
