"Clemson Alumni" merchandise

You know the shirts, license plates, etc that say "Clemson Alumni" or some-other-school Alumni? It just occurred to me that "alumni" is plural. Shouldn't they read "Clemson Alumnus"? Unless both people in the car are alums. Every school does it - not just Clemson. Since we know we're better than the rest of them, shouldn't we take the lead and start making the change?
