back in the early 60's, Duke had a player named Hack Tyson

and, while unsure of where he lassoed that nickname, if he earned it they way we all would imagine, it would've been a nickname well deserved. Their young coach, Vic Bubas, was not above having a designated hitman on the team.....and Tyson was a perfect physical fit. He was big enough to muscle out most of the opposition and once, in Fike, he injured a Clemson player on what appeared to be an intentional foul badly enough that it affected the rest of his season.
