Remodel net, part deaux - Hardwoods or LVP
Dec 1, 2022, 12:40 PM

currently have a 2 story. first floor has LVP in the foyer, hall, power room, dining room, kitchen and carpet in the living room, office and master bedroom. The upstairs is all carpet.
we would like to get away from carpet and are trying to decide which to go with. hardwoods or LVP.
side notes: We'd be changing out the existing flooring no matter what. I think most houses in our neighborhood probably have hardwoods, but I have no way of really knowing. We are planning to stay here for at least another 10 years, but s*** happens.umm.. 1 dog and 1 kid. umm...I'm sure someone will ask something else, but that's all of the random facts I can think to list right now.
So what say the lunge experts?

Just pick good stuff that doesn't look like crap and isn't too loud.

I was looking at bamboo until I found out it will cost

almost as much as my house is worth so I'm going with laminate as soon as I get up the motivation to deal with the sales folk.
Like you I want all the carpet out.

Like you, I have dogs and kids. I priced out LVP vs hardwood

and good quality LVP was actually pricier.
Ended up with hickory hardwood and it has actually held up really well and we are 5 years or so in. Doesn't scratch easily.

1x10 planks. They will dent if you look at them hard. One board is badly cupped from the refrigerator leaking on it. They all squeak when walked on.
And every day, they look a little cooler. I've been thinking about painting them; that seems to be coming back, but it would cover up the stains and dents (after sanding)
