Hey y’all! I am a rising senior at Clemson University and I’m majoring in Civil Engineering. On Saturday, I’m set to head to Savannah where I’ll be partaking in an internship for the entirety of the summer. I need your help selecting some restaurants to try and Museums to tour! I’m a huge fan of Seafood, BBQ, and Mexican so any and all restaurant suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Regarding recreation, I love to fish and hope to learn more about Savannah’s rich history!!! Thanks for the help in advance!!!
Let’s sweep VT!!!
Go Tigers!!!

I enjoyed hopping place to place on River Street eating at local restaurants. A unique appetizer and a beer at each. You get to experience a wide variety.

I'm sure there's tons of people that can guide you but contact LBB... he knows all the places down there. More than willing to take you personally if you buy him drinks, 😆

Bar Bar Crystal Beer Parlor Green Truck Pub Goose Feathers Vinnie Van Go Go's - Pizza B. Mathews
River Street is what it is. Enjoy the walk with drinks in hand, but don't go looking for some great restaurant find. You won't find it there...
Mexican is all about the same, can't go wrong. Same on BBQ there. Museums, meh. Do a town tour on a bicycle or other guided tour. Not a lot to see though, just hot.

Crystal Beer Parlor is a few blocks off the Historic District. Sketchy area. Drive or Uber.

would recommend the crab shack for seafood, wileys for bbq and cilantra's for mexican. non of these are in in the downtown historic district but worth the drive.
for recreation i would recommend any of the tours of the historic district but in particular savannah dan's walking tour, he really knows his $hit. for fishing try ms judy's charters or heck give me a buzz, i'll take you out in my boat. i can't guarantee you'll catch anything more than a beer buzz though.
btw, i'm a clemson civil engineering grad from a few years back.
go tigers!

Ft. Pulaski is a really good history stop. Also, there are several ghost tours that are terrific. Congrats on the internship. Civil grad as well (although a lifetime ago). Best of luck in your senior year.

If you have interest in military history, the Museum of The Mighty Eighth Air Force is located in the town of Pooler, southwest of Savannah along I-95. Good luck with your internship and senior year.

Mrs. Wilk’s Dining Room on West Jones St. Only open 11-2 weekdays and the queue starts forming at 10a normally. Still family operated and exactly the same as it was 40 years ago.
“ A line gathers each morning at 107 West Jones Street. At 11 o'clock, the doors of 107 open and the lunch crowd finds seats at one of the large tables-for-ten shared by strangers. Tabletops are crowded with platters of fried chicken and cornbread dressing, sweet potato souffle, black-eyed peas, okra gumbo, corn muffins and biscuits. The menu changes daily so regulars can have something different every day. Stop by and enjoy the special pleasure of a meal shared with neighbors and strangers.”

For great country cooking go to Mrs. Wilkes. Best food in town but get there early for lunch. Always a line.

It is Cracker Barrel food at much higher prices.
I don't think it's worth it.

The entire downtown of Savannah is Museum I live here and this is a great time to visit. River Street is the main place tourist come. A lot of food and spirits.
There are a lot of squares in the downtown area dedicated to all sorts of historical people.
I would take one of the city tours as a starter. They have typical tour bus and a horse drawn option.
My Boy Scout Troop just did a 10 mile hike in downtown Savannah. I've attached the map we used. You will see how many stops you might like.
I'm sure you will find your way to Tybee Island which is part of Savannah's Chatham County. You will go right by Fort Pulaski which is a great visit. If you are in to hiking, Pulaski has a number of trail around include a walk out to Cockspur Island where there is a old fashioned light house.
If you are into Southern Comfort Food you want to try Carey Hillard's. Very traditional. The tea is so sweet it has a street value. LOL.
Enjoy your visit
