If you are Panthers Would you trade mccaffery for DeShaun?

Just wondering how much the Panthers want DeShaun to build around him. RB’s come a dime a dozen for the offenses run today. I know Christian is good but will the Texans trade foe him?

Panthers have never shown any interest in anyone from Clemson.

They've had Clemson players on their roster before, they just haven't drafted any before. To think that if they actually had a chance to trade for a QB like Watson in a deal they considered to be fair, and would choose not to just because Watson went to Clemson is nuts.

Certainly! But Texans are going to want a QB, and not sure

Teddy fits the need of such a trade.

In a minute. Carolina has some talented receivers, QB position just means more and Carolina can survive with Mike Davis and rook at RB.

Yup! RBs are a dime a dozen. And coot Mike Davis ran well last year for them

QBs seem to have more longevity than rbs.
If you put your eggs into 1 basket, seems qb is the wiser choice.

Are you talking straight up, or including McCaffery as part of a package? If it's straight up then the Panthers would hit accept on the deal without thinking twice about it. No way would Houston give up Watson for a running back in a straight up deal though, even if he's the best running back in the league.
The QB position is just far too important in the NFL(college too really) and running backs wear down much faster. Watson will still be in his prime by the time McCaffery is getting ready to retire.

No question. The question is how much else do you have to

give up. Some have said its gonna take CMC and 3 more first rounders. Which is dumb. I'd say McAffery, Bridgewater, and 1 first rounder from this year should be more than plenty to offset.

The Texans would never make that trade straight up though. It would probably be more like McCaffery and two 1sts for Watson.

I read somewhere that it would start with two to three 1st rounders and they want 2 defensive starters. Any trade for Watson would have to include CMAC and Teddy just to make the money work. I would be fine with that, I fear that they would want Jeremy Chinn and that would be a 100% non-starter. I think DW4 is going to be great for the next 10 years but with the cap coming down and the Panthers already in cap crunch mode I dont want them to get him and have nothing around him.

Yep. The way the Panthers are using McCaffrey his body would stand up to the abuse. Dont get me wrong I love the guy and the effort he gives but for DW4 I would take the franchise qb in a heartbeat

I'd give them both McCaffery and Bridgewater
