Can we talk about how great

the 2002 Clemson baseball team was? Greene, Baker, and Johnson were absolute units on the diamond. If there was ever a year Clemson should have won it all, it was that year. But that was when I fell in love with Clemson baseball, or rather baseball itself. We may have had some better years, but that was the best in my lifetime. Here is a link for our stats that year if you're interested.

It was loaded with talent, for sure. I don't think I missed a home game that year.

Don't forget the 1996 squad with Benson, Vining and Koch. Best pitching trio Clemson has ever had on the same team.

I was going to post if you combined that mid90’s pitching with ‘02 hitters you probably have the all time greatest season.

But yes, it was a great team. We've had a few over the years.

2010 was catching fire at right time with auburn regional win then hosting Bama and guys like Shaffer, pohl, stolz, Parker. 2006 was a favorite of mine as well with harbin, d alessio, casanova, cribb, zocchi, berken, colvin with walk off win cs oral Roberts in super. I had a friend who brother was getting drafted that day. I was at the draft party and the game was on. They were all nc state fans and players since he played there. I went wild. They were like ugh colvin!

Sure, if we can talk about the 1966 Atlanta Braves. I can't tell you if they had any former Clemson players on the squad but they had Hank, and Eddie Mathews( my mom's favorite player) and Phil Neikro, who let me take his picture ,and Rico Carty, and Mack Jones who signed autograph's. We attended opening weekend ( 2 games against Pittsburg) and went several more times that year. Ticket prices might have been 6 dollars a person for behind home plate seating, and how later that season we decided to sit in the outfield instead of behind the plate, and I caught a homerun ball, bare handed off the bat of Chicago 2nd baseman Glenn Beckert, which I have today in a shadow box next to a personally signed Jack Leggett and Wilson Boyd baseballs.

As a boy growing up in rural SC i loved baseball. I would check the standings in the Anderson Independent every day and watch the Saturday game of the week.
As an adult the game seems way too long. All the ritual such as stepping out of the batters box, the slow walk to the mound or the relief pitcher strolling from the bullpen make it unwatchable for me.
Scratch, spit, fidget, call timeout then repeat. Simply a low energy affair. Clemson Softball on the other hands if full of energy, moves fast and is over in two hours. As a spectator sport i prefer it 10 to 1 over baseball.

I was a kid and used to go see those games. That team was absolutely loaded with hitting ability and Greene was a vacuum at shortstop. It was crazy how many HRs Johnson, Baker and Greene combined for.

Was a lot of great teams back then. 2002 was no doubt a good team with those hot bats. But many people seem to want to sleep on the 91 team that won 60 games. Billy McMillon and Eric Macrina, DeBerry, Northrup. The 94 and 95 team won 57 in 94 and 54 in 95 with Monohan, Miller and Lecroy. the 96 team with Benson, Koch And Vining on the bump also won 54. Those teams knew how to play ball and compete. Loved watching those teams when I was 1st getting into clemson baseball and sitting in right field heckling. Bring those teams back
