They are acting like we were at 100% on offense. No Williams, no Collins. We played them with freshman or back ups in key spots. Can only get better.

Some of you guys are OK or satisfied with a Mediocre win in the scrub ACC, sorry but I'm not!!! But yes, I'm glad we won, I live in Cootlumbia, and I have to hear about a coot win for the entire 365 days of the year, but the coots aren't as good as most teams in the ACC, so beating them buy a fumble and 3 field goals and without 1 offensive TD in the entire game causes me to be sick on my stomach!!!!

I will take the win. The offense looked so bad though against a bad defense. It is simply hard to get excited. I think this is where the frustration is coming from. If it were a one off performance probably not a big deal, but we are on year 3 now of bad offense.
There is absolutely nothing that gives me hope for this offense for next year. Cade is slightly better than DJ. Unless there is some great improvement year over year for him and the offense this team is not going anywhere. As it stands, I think we are looking at a similar year to this year.

I had to go sit in my car and listen to Christmas music to soothe my soul for a while during the game... but I will never complain about this win. I also came up with many ways to incorporate Clemson football into Christmas songs. Ask me if you want some Clemson caroling ideas.

Umm, ok, getting back any of those WRs will not help the offense move forward in the right direction. The Offense has been stuck in the mud for 3 years now with the same problems! No QB, no WRs, and an OL that needs help ( being nice ). Please tell me you aren’t putting all your hope on true freshman at WR? There are highly recruited guys on the roster now, and they either haven’t planned out, or haven’t been developed. There are 2 inside WRs and nothing else. Clemson has no deep threat, and that’s been the story for 3 consecutive years amongst other problems.
If Dabo grits his teeth and brings in a couple of home run hitters at WR, and some new guys to help Riley coach them up, will you admit you’re an idiot and quit Tigernet?

Cade ran the ball and managed 40 minutes of offense with a really sick/flu offensive line & RBs who didn’t practice all week. His options at wr & TE weren’t much tonight.
Cade is a big reason we won tonight, he did a good job with the hand he was dealt & being sick/gettin IV pre warmups too.

Vizzina is a pro style more like DJU but smaller. CK needs a WB whisperer but is a step down from Boyd Watson and Lawrence. I think Vizzina can push CK but even at its extreme I can still see 1-2 games we can lose due to offense next year. D will be stout again but can’t always live off D. Ask Iowa. So we have great potential but not the combo QB to get back to playoff. Hopefully I am wrong. Regardless as I have since 1970, God willing, I will be in the Valley next fall as many times as possible. For today I am smiling ear to ear and hoping some how we can get to the Poo Tarts Bowl so I can take my kids and enjoy Fla for a few days. Never a bad thing to beat the “flagship university “ ever regardless of how you do it.

If you have Cade a Mike Williams, or a Tee Higgins, he’d be just fine. Blaming Cade because we can’t put more than two healthy receivers on the field is simply not fair. He even hits receivers in the hands and they drop the ball.

Staff changes are a must. We’ve lost some we should have won, won some by the skin of our teeth when they should have been blow outs. It almost all boils down to coaching or lack thereof

Disagree, our rookies & defense dominated and the offense held the ball for 40 minutes on the road in a tough environment after just about the whole team being sick with the flu all week. The trainer got the game ball tonight.
The coots would have forfeited or ask to delay the game to next week…lol

I see a huge factor impacting offense in the way of being too conservative, which keeps the game close and gives the opponents more opportunities to stay in it or win it. I don’t like it. We would’ve scored TDs on offense if the coots were scoring. This article even calls it out. It’s true. Need to start stepping on necks rather than playing not to lose.

I hear ya. I’m not sure the staff trusts Cade.
I hope Cade’s only problem tonight was lack of receivers. Cuz our offense had little confidence and little consistency. Not horrible but not above average.

I’ve been speaking about changes for months and months now. Very happy it’s finally coming.It’s just a shame frankly, it did not have to be this way.
Cade would be a lot better with a good OL… slightly better Playcalling at times and less drops by a pretty mediocre WR group. It’s amazing how far that group has fallen since the height of WRU. Put CK behind Georgias OL, And you would see a marked difference and much more confidence.
I agree though…sometimes it’s hard to believe in him when he does unwise things. He didn’t play enough last year in my opinion, but considering the type of HS program he came from, you would think he would be better versed in situational football

This sick team getting IV’s gutted it out without practice all week and held 75,000 chickens in the stands watching us hold the ball for 40 minutes and our defense absolutely torture their offense with a very good QB.
They managed 20 minutes & had one drive basically in the first quarter, we drove them backwards drive after drive, Wes kept changing the defense almost every drive and it kept them guessing.
This was the slow kill for the coots, not much they could say, they just lost their bowl game to their most hated rival.
Dominated like a little league team not coached by Francis Marion!

Did you watch the game? We didn’t have options at WR that were healthy, we played two rookie & one sophomore TE’s that haven’t played all year. Cade kept our drives going all night.
These guys gutted out a total domination in a game with their rival in a chicken pen on the road.

I understand that we had players out with illness and injury.
If we don't have functional WRs who can help us win, we haven't recruited/developed well enough to have quality depth.
And if they are that bad, why did we throw 27 times?
But since we do recruit well, and Dabo raves about our players, and we did try to involve the receivers regularly, then perhaps your excuse is lame.
Cade did some very good things with his feet, but in terms of the passing game, he didn't do so well. And yes, that's taking into account several dropped passes that weren't his fault.

I know you don’t understand football at all, but the objective was not to turn the ball over. If you turn the ball over on the road, you lose there was not a single wide receiver on the field for Clemson that could win a jump ball. If the wide receiver isn’t WIDE open, you don’t throw it. The game plan was to run the ball, kill the clock and keep rattler off the field.

Prob same people that was posting in the first quarter calling for Goodwins head and calling the defense soft after the only scoring drive of the night for the coots. Never satisfied unless we win like 56-0. Miserable to be around. I’ll take a win anyway we can get it. This offense is going to be fine. People need to be patient and take a win when we get it.

Actually, the announcers were correct. If there was going to be a flag, it should have been offensive pi. The defender had the inside leverage. By and large, thought the crew let them play and was a good ref game.

No he grabbed him before the ball was thrown and never let go of the arm bar, it was holding or defensive pass interference period.
Check this out at 6:45 mark, stop it on the review of the route, he held or defensive pass interference, the ref who reviewed after the game agreed too.
It should have been called period!

Remember when we won 13-9 in 2005 and everyone was Happy! Whitehurst completed the sweep but the defense won the game. Even better tonight, we actually made 3 field goals above 40 yards that we have not made all year. Weitz is now a legend!!!! You spoiled cry babies have no clue. Just win baby!!!! Just win!!!!

Considering the team didn’t hardly practice because of the flu & illness, the game ball went to the trainer.
These guys fought Clemson with 40 minutes of ball possession tothe coots 20 & ran them backwards like they were a FCS team.

Great Scott (haha)…So I’ll take a stab at this and you critique:
1). CDS replaces Austin, likely with an OL coach of Riley’s choosing, Dabo’s approving? Brings in a past coach (Brad) as an OL consultant of some sort.
3). CDS replaces Grisham with the “other Scott” (Jeff).
These seem like the obvious coach moves. Do you agree? Do you foresee any other coaching changes?

It does not matter if I agree or not; Dabo will make the decision if we are going to have staff changes. Whatever he decides to do is fine with me and 98.5% of the Tiger fans. Go Tigers.

Thanks for your comment. I did not ask you but thanks anyway. I am proud that you are a 98.5%er and that my post allowed you to announce that to TN. I agree with your general assessment.
I asked the OP a question because he has been presented on TN, whether he likes it or not, as somewhat of an insider who often knows about things within the Clemson fb program before the common fan. He hinted at coaching changes to come in this thread. Have a good day.

Always appreciate a win over the Gamecocks! It was obvious that the defense came to play and we adjusted to playing field position and clock management. We also made sure that disaster didn’t strike and allow “big mo” to swing back the Gamecocks way. It was an “old school” game where it was absolutely wonderful to see the defense physically man handle “little brother.” They had no response. Possibly could have scored more points if we didn’t have two major drops. Go Tigers and win the bowl game!
