He actually might.
One thing about Musk is, I don't think anybody except Elon Musk knows what Elon Musk is really up to.
These derps who think he's going to make the world safe for MAGA assuredly don't have a clue. Musk is...not one of them, but the fact remains I'm fairly confident Musk is in a tribe consisting solely of...well, himself.
He sees the world his own way...and I really don't think his long game is "power" or "money" - though guys like Robert Reich, who wrote this op-ed in Guardian the other day - assuredly think it is.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/apr/12/elon-musk-internet-twitter
I don't think Reich has it right. (Reich very often doesn't, IMHO.) But in exactly the same way as Musk never came right out and said "I'm going to end the fossil fuel industry and put Exxon, the Koch Brothers, BP, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the rest of OPEC right out of business" or, "I'm going to stick a foot-long dong up NASA's butt, privatize the crap outta space, and colonize orbit because I wanna go to Mars and I don't have the 200 years it'd take the government to get around to accomplishing that without me", I'm similarly confident he's not really telling us what his actual long-term plan for Twitter is, either.
He's not big on explanations, Musk isn't. He just...does stuff, and lets us figure out afterward what he was up to. My guess would be he's planning on AI algorithm linking...just with his own kind of algorithm, one that sees the world his way. Keep in mind he's also into NeuraLink, and he knows far more, scientifically, than what Big Tech knows about how the human brain works.

One way or the other, Musk keeps getting done what he wants to get done despite changes in the political parties at the WH and Congress.
For that reason, I don't think he gives one shizz about pandering to one side or the other (and is therefore not interested one way or the other about Trump either being on or off Twitter).
But with his Twitter bid, maybe he's revealing that he's got some of that "Old Time Religion" in him and is buying a company with a big platform on the cheap and believes that he can turn it around and then dump it for a huge gain. Just like the 'old timers' do.

Has that ever been Musk's MO?
Money for the sake of money seems to bore him. And he prints money anyway...dude is on his way to being the world's first trillionaire.
He's got some plan in mind. Pretty sure it involves some combo of AI-with-Twitter, some new way of "informing" or "involvement" with the audience that has something to do with directed-AI-learning and probably something to do with NeuraLink.
What he's got in mind, I don't think we'll know until he does it, though, and nobody's in a position to really stop him.

Around.
You know theleft is gone when they advocate for censorship. And of course it's only to limit 1 side of speech. That's what people like u are really scared of.

Did you actually read a word I wrote?
I said I didn't agree with Reich's take and that I often don't. You asked "why is the left freaking out about Musk taking over Twitter", and I answered with an op-ed that seems to summarize what their fears are.
And I'm still not a leftist.
I don't necessarily disagree with what Musk is doing...though I am fairly certain whatever it is he's actually doing he hasn't told us yet. Guy sees stuff just way before the most of us do, it's why he's the world's richest man and is going to own half the planet before he's done.
Reich's problem is, I suspect, he doesn't know Musk's real game and is seeing this through the eyes of a Berkeley economist.

Just from a pure business perspective, nobody would be stupid enough to be the guy that says Beatlejuice 3x, it would cost him sales and I would think he is smart enough not to risk his mars money by letting trump back onto Twitter.

Again, hard to tell what Musk will do...and IMHO Donald will run back to Twitter in a hot second, if he thought they'd take him back. Dude craves an audience, attention, and relevancy like a vampire bat craves blood. Abrupt pivots don't bother him.
The ultimate problem is this, and even Elon can't get around it: if Twitter is indeed the "village square" of American discourse and discussion, as Musk describes it, you can't have open gunfights in that square. Twitter - and no platform, really - can exist as both a village square and a platform for violent revolution by what amounts to a barbarian horde screeching conspiracy theories, misinformation, and calling their opponents "pedophiles" and "groomers" and otherwise lobbing incendiary devices into that public forum without the slightest regard for civility.
Mind, far leftists are scarcely more civil. While Donald Trump and his most rabid followers do not practice restraint, and the way they practice discourse and Twitter simply can't realistically exist in the same space without destroying Twitter, neither, over the long term, can far leftist hostility exist in that space.
My suspicion is that with Musk at the helm there will probably be less of a double standard. If he's truly committed to actually practicing transparency and opens up the algorithm and mod practices for public discourse what it's actually likely going to reveal is the pervasive degree to which leftist flamethrowers have been allowed to run amok at the expense of free speech on Twitter and similar platforms.
Musk probably isn't going to save Donald and the Q crowd - he can't do that and keep Twitter's user base, full stop, they'll desert en masse, since city folk simply can't and won't share the metaphorical Town square with the barbarian horde that wants to kill them - but if he really wants to clean up Twitter he has to do it in a fair-minded and evenhanded and transparent way. Which is never going to make MAGA happy...but let's face it, there is no making the far right of MAGA happy any more than you're ever going to make the most fervent LGBTQ Berkeley Bernie Bro happy short of outright revolution, they just don't have those files on their hard drives.

He just won't get himself tangled up in that mess, at least from a publicity standpoint. he has more to lose just uttering the man's name. I imagine, and this is just a guess, it would not matter anyway, he will probably restructure the entire thing away from rewarding sensationalistic nonsense which kind of prices trump out of the equation.

I think it's possible Trump is allowed back on.
I think some of my views are similar to Musk's views on free speech. I'm liberal but not in the modern sense.
I dont care for the censorship at all. What many on the left are advocating for will eventually come back to bite us in the ### as well. It's childish imo.

I'm thinking about putting you (Quozz) and Keowee in time out.
In case you don't know, I can do it because I'm a great athlete. Proof?
In high school basketball 40+ years ago, I was one of only five recipients of the esteemed Participation Trophy award.
So there.
