Can someone explain where this rumor about Burch & IMG originated?

It’s being mentioned on Twitter like it’s the gospel truth and universally known information, but I haven’t heard anything about it reported by anyone reputable.
Essentially the claim is that Clemson’s staff wanted Burch to transfer to IMG this year to compete with better competition than he did against SCISA players at Hammond, which didn’t sit well with Mama Burch at all.
Is this is just opposing fan base forum gossip? Or is there some semi-reputable source that this info is coming from.
TIA in advance in advance.

I have no idea if that’s true, but it certainly sounds like great advice. Why would you not want to go play at a school like IMG and face the best of the best instead of playing SCISA? If that is true, I have no clue why his mom would be upset about the coaches wanting him better prepared for the college game. That’s why it sounds fake.

The truth and what everyone else thinks is irrelevant.

It doesn’t matter, you’re correct. And I’m not saying it does. However when multiple people are acting like it’s an undisputed fact and not just a rumor, it makes me curious if there’s a tangible source (other than the typical “fan with sources” type rumors) that’s led them to believe it to be true.

The Clemson coaching staff isn’t going to comment on it and Burch and his mom don’t do interviews so I don’t think you’ll find a credible source.
I do find it hard to believe his mom would become upset over a suggestion. What’s the harm in making a suggestion? I’m sure she was already well aware of IMG, Burch and XT are friends from Florence.

Compete against the best and get away from all the chicken propaganda he is constantly surrounded with. If it’s not something that could work for the family so be it but there’s no reason for mama to get worked up about it. IMG would’ve been a great move for his development as a football player. If Burch is developed to his full potential mama won’t be working anymore.

I have no idea where Burch will wind up going and I guess no one else does either. But if had my heart on playing in the SEC for a crappy team, I would choose Vanderbilt and at least get a great education .... or choose Clemson and get both.
