Can Beer hit opposite field? ?

Mar 6, 2017, 8:36 PM

OK baseball minds... Can Seth Beer hit the ball to the opposite field? With the shift being played against him you would think it's possible. I would think it wouldn't have to be much to make teams pay for that. A player with his baseball skills I would think could do this. Just thinking about further on in the season. Of course what he's doing is working!!

From what I understand, the ball he hit out of the park

against Georgia early last year could have gone out of any park anywhere.

Yes he can...and quite well actually. Teams employ the shift on him to minimize him as much as possible and to Keep him from getting his arms extended. In the shift you will notice the pitch location is inside so that a Beer will get himself out by hitting into the shift and not allowing him to hit it the other way.

The shift is utilized on hitters that are dead pull and used to minimize the strengths of good hitters.

I figure that when they shift him like that, he should just bunt to third. Do it enough and they'll quit shifting. With the way they're playing him now, a bunt down the third base line would be a hit every time.

Actually not a bad idea to at least let him do that in games that we have in control and have it on tape. Make em think.
