Friday night, had to run up to Costco to return some stuff then to Cucho's Tacos. The place is pretty good. Back home to watch Dr. Giggles.
Saturday, went up to Six Mile to pick up an 80s or 90 era Craftsman Radial Arm saw from a friend cleaning out his barn. I'm going to try to restore it for the sake of content. Then over to Clemson to visit with some other friends for a bit. One more stop to have a few beers before calling it a night.
Sunday, manage to get the saw unloaded and into my building without any damage to the truck or myself. Got my building cleaned up a little bit before it got too hot but still a long way to go in there.

Sun - Church in the morning, MsLovin and MsJr went off to a girls retreat, McJr and I watched Jumanji. I took him over to the in-laws to stay for a couple days and I am Home Alone.

Took off on Sattidy to Franklin for the night. Ate well at the Chop house. Ms. Wilbur hit about every Antique (juntique?) store. Did find some interesting things, (anyone need a 400lb anvil?), bought a few for the mountain house.
Went for a drive to Lake Glenville on Sunday. Quite a pretty lake set in the NC mountains. Made it back home in time to watch the John Deere golf.
9/10 (17.1/19 on the RH Covids scale). Would, but did not, due a gin

Great! Mine began on Thursday with a trip to Navarre Beach with my son and DIL. It was hot! Kept the dogs comforted during the fireworks, so, stayed in and just listened to the "booms".
Friday included a five-hour fishing trip into the Gulf - only two keepers - one Red Snapper and one Black (Mango) Snapper. It was hot!
Saturday was all about pool time... and staying out of the sun. Hamburgers on the grill.
Sunday, church and dinner on the grounds. Pool time afterwards. Son and DIL left early headed back to NC.
Really relaxing and great weekend!

Was off almost all last week, so...
Wednesday, went to festival in downtown Pineville. They have a new social district that allows you to wander the streets with open containers of alcohol, which is nice. Checked out the vendors, listened to the classic rock cover band, stopped in to see if the second location of Two Buck Saloon was anything special (it wasn't). Got hungry and headed over to Fort Mill and ate at Ilios Crafted Greek, which was phenomenal.
Thursday, Got to the Whitewater Center around 4:00 and sat through all three bands in near 100 degree heat. Opener was Cece Coakley, sort of an emo Taylor Swift...meh. Second was JB Strauss from Macon with a nice country rock/Southern rock set. 49 Winchester was the headliner, third time we've seen them and the set was fantastic. Met up with p6fuller® and his wife and had a blast.
Friday, drove up to Cabarrus Brewing Charlotte for an outdoor show with Ace Monroe and Seven Year Witch co-headlining. Second time seeing Ace, they have a great Aerosmith vibe. SYW is from Anderson, and I would describe them as a very gymnastic cross between Black Sabbath and early Seattle grunge. Both bands were great, but SYW amazed me with their energy running around the stage in 100-degree heat. Also, they turned in a solid version of War Pigs LOUD.
Saturday, lots of yard work and chores, then rode out to Johnny Walker's Burnt Mill in Blacksburg, SC to watch fireworks. This my friends, was a dive bar experience worthy of its own standalone post, which I'll get too later...but I will say that if you ever get the chance, you NEED to go experience this place. Look them up on Facebook if you have an account and scroll through the pictures to get an idea. And that STILL won;t do the place justice.
Sunday, grocery run, errands, the rode to Pineville to see what was in the new food court they added on to the Super G International Grocery. Lots of good Asian food stalls, but we ended up going into the grocery side and getting a bunch of fresh produce and went home and made a Greek salad.
Simply put, the week+end was 190/19 Covids.

Thurs - went to Greenjackets game for 'merica overload. Baseball, couple beers, hotdogs, and fireworks. Middle daughter (no pigs) was at the game with the italian exchange students that she was hosting. Those kids ate it up. Awesome pregame national anthem with full color guard presentation. Also had run-in with "creepy joe" guy (that is what security at the ball park called him). Had a problem with this guy 10+ years ago in Aiken when wife and I were first getting together. This dude is super weird, dresses in all black, has a camera on one hip and a fanny pack on the other hip like he is some kind of photographer, but really he just uses it as a ruse to take pictures of the wimmens. He goes to all the games over there and I recognize him all the time. I walked off to go to the head and this dude sidles up to my wife and "watches the game." I come back and he wanders off but is still hanging nearby, so I go over and have some words with him. He scampered off like a scalded dog. Anyway, the attendant standing next to us notifies security and they come keep an eye on him. Other than that it was a great night.
Fri - Hit Grumpy's with wife and little one for wings. Fantastic as always. Made it out for a little karaoke. Not much else, crash.
Sat - Lazy af all day, and it was everything you imagine it could be.
Sun - Watch a little golf, failed at fixing brakes on son's car. Me, wife, little one met bro, SIL, and their adopted son at Mellow Mushroom for some food since kid is getting his asss sent off to Camden Military as I type this. Go next door for music bingo, did not win. Home for a few episodes of Trailer Park Boys.

Friday...took the day off. Slept in a bit since eff'ers in neighborhood were still shooting off fireworks after mid-night the night before. Feel like old man now complaining about the "kids these days". Mother-of was still in town. Changed out brake light bulb in mother's car, which was surprisingly easy. Made breakfast for everyone. Everyone sat around and listened to my mother talk...she talked continuously for 2.5 days straight...it was impressive. Took the clan to Maki for lunch. Fiddled around in the garage and yard to give my ears a break. Took daughter-of to best buy to get son-of some speakers for the stereo/turn-table I'm setting up for him. Grilled chicken and zucchini for dinner.
Saturday...took fam to Eggs up Grill for breakfast and then mother-of headed home. We all went to our house and went to separate rooms and enjoyed some peace and quiet. Very relaxing day.
Sunday...also quiet and relaxing.

Friday drove to our hotel in Lavonia for the 10u State Tournament in Toccoa. Indoor pool and pizza hut.
Saturday 10:30 game, won 10-0. Team lunch at Chick-fil-A. Went to Toccoa Falls and the Currahhee Military Museum (the mountain is closed due to vandalism). Pool. Team dinner at a Mexican restuarant.
Sunday 10:30 game, won 4-3. Came back from a 3-1 deficit in the 6th inning. Team lunch at Zaxby's, drove home and crashed.
Next game is tomorrow night at 8:00 unless rain messes things up like it did last night. 8 team double elimination tournament on one field is tough scheduling.

out traffic, and ended up getting stuck for an hour or so in dead-stop traffic on I-77 in Chester County due to a wreck we were nary a minute away from participating in. Rolling past was a somewhat somber as I'm thinking not everybody made it out of that one.
Lil Jimmer did get an opportunity to pee on interstate tarmac, which I told him not many people could say.

Pulling the trigger on a Polestar 2 lease. They had pretty solid incentives (by comparison) + Costco is running an auto special for $2k off purchase/lease. Still not quite as good as what Hyundai was running on an Ioniq 6, but that special only applies to a very specific trim that is impossible to find available. It's a little more money down than I wanted which, if you factor that into monthly payments, is a little higher than I wanted, but this is going to be a solid experiment for two years to see how we like living with an EV, while giving EV tech more time to evolve before we might think about purchasing one.
Plus if Polestar goes under maybe nobody is around when it is time to turn in the lease.
One thing I've learned in this process, which isn't surprising and makes complete sense, is that none of those lease specials are ever as good as they seem once they throw in delivery fees/taxes/etc.
Subaru was offering $329/m with $0 down on Solterras, which turned into $415/m after fees. The Polestar process was pretty awesome though from the perspective of transparency. Instead of having to go through a salesperson to get your price sheet everything is done online and you can see rates with fees included/excluded.

The 228 range was abysmal, and they look so stupid with the plastic cladding (which is a general gripe against the Subaru Wilderness trim). Stuck with a single motor on the Polestar but it still looks like it's punchy at a 5.5 60-sec time, and a solid 320 range. Only the Ioniq 6 RWD beat that for ones I was looking at (it was 360).

we drove this one like the pleeb class citizens we are.
left at 3:30 AM CST on the way down, 3:00 AM EST on the way home.
only "bad" part was the 1 year old crying from ~the Boro - Chatt (4 AM - 445/5?) and me being a zombie those two days.
flying is definitely more convenient and easy. don't think it's $1-1.5k (points dependent) more convenient and easy though

so many people. We TRIED to get to Freeman Park early to drive out to beach with Wife's 85 year old grandfather. Nah, 9:00 had a line probably 50 cars deep trying to get on. So we found a lot and paid to park. That limited SOME of the chaos, small lot means not TOO many people. Next day they tried Freeman again, double parked on the beach by 10:00. Hit up the same paid lot. Saturday we just paid to park again. Paying 2 cars for full days is stupid expensive, especially when wife's family doesn't chip in any (and one was their car).
At least $170 down the drain.

and eat their food, eat their groceries, let them pay for dinners, etc, the least you could do was pay for the $25/day fee for parking. Especially when they are out there for you.
It's a little gripe, but one I have. If I am staying at your house, I am offering to cover anything I can, but that is maybe just a me thing.

correct. It takes away ALOT of the beauty of the beach. Also, it attracts the most redneck of all beach-goers. That and latinos that love to have a big party on the beach. The positives of that is the absolute AMAZING smell of food cooking on the beach. The latino folks do it right.
Also, it is great for getting wife's grandparents out there, when it ISN'T a holiday weekend. On a random Tuesday, you can get out there and tailgate with no problems. Take the biggest cooler you have and some big lounge chairs, not necessary to haul them far, it is EXCELLENT.
Our approach is, if SOMEONE is going to park on the beach, might as well be us. That yearly pass pays for itself in just a few days. Freeman Park just gets SUPER crowded on holidays and busy weekends.

Mumbette severely wanted washer and dryer on first floor of house, decided on the back porch. Got a great plumber to handle a tricky job and they made it look easy. Then had electricians come in to run new feeds for W&D, and replaced a couple of old Square D QO subpanels in the basement, plus run a 100 amp feeder out to the detached garage. Cleaned up the back porch from the carnage resulting from transient children situations over the past 2 years, donated some stuff to Dream Center, and carried stuff to Goodwill. Surprised Mumbette with new freezer on back porch to go with the W&D.
Oh yeah, good God is it hot.

My head was so congested, I was practically deaf. On ascent and descent on my return flights, my ears squeaked and squealed so loudly that I thought people sitting around me probably heard it. Took a test as soon as i got home, was positive in 20 seconds or less, took Benadryl for 2 days, and was pretty much OK after 4 days. Effect was the worst head cold ever.
