MAGA is largely people who never voted prior to Trump becoming a candidate. MAGA is largely people who couldn't tell you the 3 branches of government. MAGA is largely people that Trump can appeal to by speaking to them on their level, with subtle and not-so-subtle dogwhistles and victim culture pandering. "Your life is so bad because of _________ (brown people, trans people, liberals, etc.)".
Haley doesn't operate in that lane, and wouldn't be believable if she tried it. MAGA is a very dumb,willfully misinformed crowd, and nobody speaks that language like Trump can. Not his kids, not Vance, not anybody.

by refusing to do so, she'd bring some humanity back to the GOP base because they'd flock to her regardless. The only reason MAGA feels so emboldened about being "out" with their hatred is because Trump told them it was okay. If the next leader of the GOP said we need to show empathy and stop with the hate, I believe they'd follow her lead.

I did my part , stood in line with a bunch of red hats to cast my vote for Nikki. I then sat out the general election as neither candidate deserved my vote. Screw the lesser of 2 evils philosophy as that only compels them to send out terrible candidates.
