Cade is NOT progressing and neither is the offense

I don’t see Cade progressing consistently, and I think the same of our offense. It’s like we have a different OC every week. No long term plan of adding this wrinkle or that wrinkle every week to grow the resume every week. Enough of the screens! Modern college football is a vertical, big play game. You need explosive plays to demoralize a defense. Whether we call these plays or not, we surely don’t execute them. In re-watching the game from DVR last night, Cade is very predictable in staring down his receviers, especially those to his right side. If Randall or Stellato line up on the left, they don’t get a look. OUr routes mesh too much as well. We’re not covering the field, and many times there are multiple receivers in the same defensive zone…that DOES NOT put pressure on a defense. Whether it’s Reilly or Dabo or just the vanilla “Clemson” offense, I just don’t see why we’re paying a premium for offensive coordination because the product we received is not worth it. It’s almost like we are so scared of screwing up we’re not willing to take any risk downfield or over the middle of the field, but unfortunately that’s where the hay is made in college football today.

It’s going to continue to be hard for Cade to progress when the defense knows what plays we are calling. Maybe try passing on first downs. Quick slants not screens. We aren’t fooling anyone with our predictable play calling.

Good observation...defense has been pulling our chestnuts out of the fire all too often this year...waiting for the offense to start paying the OCs salary...no such sighting yet...maybe we need to take some of those mothballed freshmen WRs out of the closet...we were about to become the Clemson Browns...portal QBs don't always work out!

Because Dabo only addressed 2 of the problems this off-season.

QB & OC
WR is still a massive issue. Hamp greene on the two deep tells you all you need to know about how far we’ve fallen at that position.

Not true at all. His pocket presence has

Shown remarkable improvement. Since Duke he has better awareness of the first down marker. You can see that on his scrambles. He climbs the pocket now instead of standing there and just taking off. At Syracuse on the throw to Stellato he showed he can avoid the rush a deliver a dime on the run. After climbing the pocket, even if he scrambles he still has his eyes downfield most of the time looking for someone to get open.

Absolutely. He was just off yesterday with low throws for some reason and several were wide open.

Cade had a bad day for sure but he’s definitely improving overall. He had a couple of drops (Brinnningstool and Brown) that hurt him. I don’t see any push from the left side of OL. Cade is getting better but yesterday wasn’t great. I think OL is a big reason.

Cade’s improving but notice how the poor run blocking is putting the offense in 3rd and long way too much. Then that forces things with our haphazard receivers. I don’t understand why Riley doesn’t just install Bringingstool at boundary WR. He’s the only downfield threat taller than 6’4” and can’t block a DE or LB at line. Randall isn’t getting reps anymore, and how can Greene be a better option such as the one deep throw that Greene was 10 yds behind. Let one of the younger TEs block at the line. Atleast they have better bulk/strength than Jake. I watch several other schools (ND, GA as examples) use their athletic TE in all kinds of different routes downfield.

This is not the offense most were expecting. "Air Raid" offense, where is that ? I see no difference in this offense than what we have witnessed 2 years prior. Sleep walking offense. No excitement at all.

Cade is about a one star q/b, not five star. The team is back in the bottom of the terrible ACC, the great days are history !

Through 6 games Riley has not impressed me one bit. And the 3rd and 6 WR screen call yesterday was a complete joke.
The only difference I see with this offense is a better more accurate QB and some better WR play.
Could have saved the money and kept Streeter as there is no difference in the offenses. Sorry Riley is not in the BIG12 where they don’t play defense.

So, what is the logical conclusion. What is the obvious answer. It's Dabo not handing over the reigns to Tge Offensive Coordinator. He is still too involved.
It looks like Dabos offense, not Rileys.
