CA Tigerman®

Nov 25, 2017, 9:42 AM

For you old timers on TigerNet...the hubcap, crashing the chatroom, Big Daddy baseball days...you will recall CA Tigerman® or Frank Kellers. Frank was as Clemson as you could be and has an Alumni award named after him.

This time of year my favorite thing was to log into Tiger Chat and see Frank posting the falling chickens. You knew it was time to collect the rent again. I don't have that gif/code any more - perhaps someone still has it. But here's to you Frank! I know you'll be watching from above tonight.

Parkinson's Disease

He had a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

There's a endowed scholarship that was established in Frank Keller's name if anyone cares to donate in his memory.

Here, here. I was proud to call Frank my friend. I to this day have a Clemson $2 bill in my refrigerator he gave me more than 20 years ago.

In the early '90s, options for seeing the Tigers on TV were very likired

Nov 25, 2017, 9:58 AM

especially on the west coast. Frank, as President if the Northern California Clemson Club, would arrange viewing parties at Bay Area establishments. The games would often start at 9 AM local time, so the lovely bride and I would travel three hours up there from central California to watch the game and then hang out with Frank for the rest of the day. You will not find anyone anywhere who loved Clemson more than Frank Kellers.

Frank was a permanent guest at our Homecoming tailgate

Nov 25, 2017, 10:15 AM

Not that he stayed the entire time - I believe his day started with an alumni council breakfast, then the Hunter's tailgate where he refilled his Bloody Mary just before the walk to our spot. I can still see his orange blazer coming into view just before he spotted my wife and called out "I hope you still have plenty of shrimp! I'm hungry!"

After an hour or so with us, he was ready to head to the Byrd's tailgate around the corner of Littlejohn. He knew how to enjoy his trips to Clemson!

When Sheila came with him, they usually rented a car and came down for a meal and a visit at our house the Monday after Homecoming.

My favorite visit with Frank was the day we sat in his den with the rest of the North California Clemson Club to watch the 63-17 beat down on one of his two "old school" big screen televisions.

Yeah, I miss the heck out of my old friend.

Rest in peace, Frank. I hope you've had a great box seat to watch where our team has gone the last few years! It's been a little piece of heaven for us so surely you've had access to it too.

Knew him only on Tigernet

Nov 25, 2017, 10:41 AM

But I bet I would have enjoyed being around him face to face - especially on game day!

I sure wish the Mod's would create a Membership wall listing those that have been on here for 10 years or more -in 5 year increments.

I only wish I could have got to know him better.
