Bye vs hosting a first round game

Dec 8, 2024, 8:30 AM

Looks like we will be road warriors, and I will likely blasted for this, but would anybody prefer to host a first round game rather than get a bye? First round hosts get an extra game, yes, but also a friendly environment in which to continue rounding into playoff shape. Playing in two weeks is like an in-season bye week.

I realize that first round byes are an advantage, but can the longer layoff work against the top 4 seeds?

If I were a coach or a player, of course I would take the bye. As a selfish fan, I might take the home game, but I think ultimately I would decide that a bye is the same as a first round win.

Curious what others think about this.

I do think there's potentially some danger in a team that's been off for almost a month playing a team that played the week before. Will be interesting to see how those games go, especially the first quarters.

Definitely would want the bye.

Consolation prize is hosting but there’s no way I would ever choose to not have that first round bye.

Bye week generally is bad news for Clemson. Dont be short sighted.***

Yes, didn’t we lose to Louisville after a bye?
And, aren’t two of our losses home games?
