Second place had to gamble on the underdog to have a chance to win. So I did too. Good haul. He wasn't too happy, but I was, so it worked out okay.

I love my peated Scotch but for some reason

Monkey Shoulder is something I tried and did not like.

Sipping on some Peat Weak by Balvanie - they rarely do peated, but if you find a bottle of Peat Week, A) buy it B) lemme know where you found it.

That Talisker is very smoky from what I understand. Haven't opened it yet. Monkey Shoulder is what a couple of the guys like, so to that's what they brought to pay off the entry. It's a blend of single malts instead of just adding grain alcohol and it's okay but not great.

Never had it, but is should not be peaty, but smoky sounds interesting.

almost all peaty Scotch comes from Islay region.

I will pick a bottle up next time I am at the store and see if it is smoky. Sounds good and I love having a reason to buy another bottle. LOL.

Okay I thought the peat fire put the smoke flavor in the Scotch

I am relatively new to Scotch drinking, so I thought peat and smoke were interchangeable in describing it. Been a whiskey and bourbon guy until a few years ago.
