we are awful. thanks god baseball is almost here. we've got talent but brownell obviously can't coach offense. he needs to resign or get the boot. he's a good guy but enough of anything is enough. my uncle once told me, "if you're playing poker for match sticks and keep losing, enough is enough. anyway u get my point . fire him

I'm looking for a decent finish and an N.I.T. bid this season. I'm looking for more next season with a more experienced team. We should be in the NCAA tournament next season. It's hard to judge a coach who has a team with so little experience. Right now we are good at home and terrible on the road. Next season, our road issues should get better.

On the road, more confidence & more of a gritty edge

We seem to lose our toughness at times.
Offensively we need the confidence to take the first good open shot - we have sequences where we pass up a good open shot and then struggle to get a good shot within the shot clock.
DeVoe looks to be a confident scorer - and with a legit jump shot.

Get out of my head. Seriously though, I've been watching teams run the motion offense (long time Purdue fan) and when you have a team that runs it correctly, and has at least 3 players on the floor confident enough to take the open shot, it can be devastatingly effective.

Our offensive problems right now rest with our guards

still not having the confidence to take the ball to the basket often enough. When they show that confidence and execute, we score okay and win ballgames, especially with our top defense. When they are hesitant to press the ball inside we're limp on offense and are apt to lose.
I see a lot great strengths in Brownell and believe his style of play and coaching is going to deliver very well here over the long run. Everybody complains about his recruiting but fail to acknowledge that it has been improving year after year since he's been here - not a meteoric rise to the top but steady improvement that addresses short and long-term team needs.
Brownell is not going anywhere anytime soon, thankfully.

Our guards need to also have confidence in jump shots
Feb 1, 2014, 12:33 PM

Getting to rim on teams with length like Cuse, Pitt, UNC and Pitt is tough. But penetration with the kick out for a jump shot can be effective. The pass out to the shooter needs to be good so the shot is in rhythm.

We dribble too much on the road

We are a much better catch and shoot team. We don't have the talent to hunt our own jumpers (most teams don't), and only have one player that can consistently finish at the rim in the half court.

The simple fact is that we have no one with any confidence in their outside shot - shots beyond 10 feet. We send undersized guards and forwards into the paint to take bad shots and get their shots blocked. We need better perimeter shooters. We need a consistent 3-point threat. Until we have that, our offense will struggle regardless of what we do.

Ok we all know that this team is challenged offensively, Brad knows, we know, everyone knows. With that said lets take a look at the incoming recruiting class. A class that has what? SCORERS. Defensively Brad is one of the best (stats nationwide show this to be true). He can coach defense so he is getting players that can put the ball in the basket. For this team to even be considered a bubble team is amazing. We all knew this stretch would be horrendous and the fact we got off to a hot start made this stretch really irrelevant (great if you win but not terrible for your season if you drop some). We are finally showing commitment to basketball with the new facility, we have promising players coming in. But yes lets fire our coach who has done more with less than any coach on our campus.

I'm not saying Brownell needs to be fired or bashing him in anyway, but when you say he has "done more with less", what exactly has he done?
His first year was with a team recruited and built by Purnell. His other two years we had a losing record.
