Prado for 1 year or Upton for 3 years? I think the Braves made a good deal based on contracts and who was involved.

to resign Prado after this year so IMO it was a good deal.

Lets see:
(according to BaseballAmerica.com)
Arizona Gets: All Star Prado 1 year @ 7mil 1 top 100 MLB prospect Major League ready 3 non 100 MLB prospects not major league ready
Braves Get: An All Star Outfielder in Justin Upton under team control for 3 years @10 mil and 15 mil each other year. A 3B with a decent stateline similar to Prado's in Chris Johnson, under team control for 5 years @ 2mil.
This allows Braves to resign BMac next season. Seeing that Prado has already rejected a multi-year deal by the braves and seeing that he will demand 15mil or more for 5 years, this was a no brainer.
Braves still have a great farm.

I hate seeing Prado go too. He's such a solid, versatile...

baseball player who leads by example.
... but Simmons is a young guy I think we'll be able to count on in the infield, and the talent Atlanta has in the Outfield now is insane. Upton, Upton & Heyward. That is BIG time. Freeman and McCann are back. The back end of the rotation is the best in baseball and our SPs will be just fine, especially when Beachy gets back healthy (Medlen and Hudson are beasts).
It's gonna be key to see how our young guns like Teheran, Minor, Gilmartin, etc. step up and pitch.

If Ugla, Freeman and McCann all start hitting the ball....

consistently like they are capable, the Braves are going to be a darn good team.
Like so many others, I hate seeing Prado go, but at the end of the day I think this will turn out to be a very good trade for Atlanta.
I am not unhappy with it.
