I predict PJ will average 20+ ppg and 10+ rebounds per game in 23-24 season. He will lead Clemson to another 20+ win season and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Brad will get a contract extension for 5 years and Clemson basketball will go through 4 years of being average after PJ graduates.

Get the f out of here with all this. I’m so sick all the Brownell haters that act like Clemson has been some powerhouse in basketball before he got here. We have finished higher in the ACC on a more consistent basis under Brownell than any coach in our history. He has more wins than any coach in our history. More ACC wins than any coach in our history. We got screwed last year out of the tournament. Just shut the f up and pull for your team. Brownell isn’t going anywhere this year so shut up and support the team. It’s exhausting listening to you fairies ##### everyday about it when we know he is our coach next year. Just shut up already.

actually, we have not finished consistently higher in conference than any other coach... BB's avg finish is 6-7th, I did that math a couple of years ago. So, that's in the lower half of the conference which means we're an average tournament bubble team but the ACC hasn't gotten 6 or more teams into the tourney in a number of years. Yep, we got screwed out of the tournament, but BB did us no good with those two sub 100 ranked losses, nor did he prove the selection committee oversight with that loss to Morehead St. in Littlejohn in the 1st rd of the NIT. BB has to consistently produce season's like last year to get in the dance, and there is nothing in his time at Clemson nor UNCG that says he leads teams to that level of consistent success. So, there is pessimism around the bball team but it's rooted in the track record. Making the tourney 3 times in 13 seasons is not going to move the needle in our favor, so don't overlook that fact that we deserved to be in overshadow the fact that we didn't get in. When people show you who they are, believe them...

I don't understand why people defend CBB so hard..we all want more basketball trophies considering there is only a couple in existence. Never ok to shame Clemson faithful bc they want a new coach after yrs of dissatisfaction. Truth is we don't have the money ATM to hire a stud bball coach and can probably squeeze out a good upcoming season. CBB has reached his ceiling and longterm we need a better in game coach. Overall we have a beautiful trophy collection tho, GO Tigers!!!

be in college. That ticky-tack foul call stuff don't fly in the NBA, so he will be able to post up people, and body up on defense as well. He has seen this just from the short NBA precombine camp. But, now, he has to adapt once again to the ACC zebras, and their North Carolina school colored whistles.
Welcome back, PJ!

how to make a Stretch 4 for the Pros. Just ask Brady Manek.
I know PJ and his family. Good people.
That they've been snowed by a Coach who can't get it done, and who has taken more from this University than he can ever repay, shouldn't be a negative reflection on them.
Best to you, PJ. I hope it works out.

What he can do is ride mediocrity until every four years he has a solid enough time to make the NCAA tournament, get a big contract extension in a fat raise, and then stink for the next three years. It’s literally established scientific pattern.

Please tell me what you knew of Manek before he took UNC to the Final Game two years ago. You wouldn't have known him from Mike Gundy even as he had played 4 years at Oklahoma.
Without the UNC NCAA Tournament run, Manek doesn't have anywhere near the opportunities he does now.
Of course, you support Brad Brownell and wouldn't know ANYTHING about NCAAT runs....

Ok. And you dont believe that pj hall will have the skill to play overseas because of brownell?
You realize he was a 4 year starter for oklahoma and was a highly sought after transfer, right?
I guess hubert's coaching got him to land in australia playing overseas. He probably wouldnt still be playing basketball if not for hubert.

And also, I'm a big time college basketball fan. Just because you don't watch much college basketball doesn't mean that others don't. I knew of Brady Manek when he was one of the best freshman in the country playing alongside of Trae Young at Oklahoma.
I also heard about him when he transferred to UNC and my UNC friends were incredibly excited saying he was the second coming of Larry Bird! LOL

Final Four star before he went to Chapel Hill. His one year there made worlds of difference for him.
I'd say, "You do get the difference right?", but since you and Brownell have never sniffed the Final Four, I'll assume that you don't.
Heck, Manek's star has even risen this year as Pete Nance was unable to replicate what Brady did previously at Carolina.
If PJ wanted a real Coach, and one who knew the NBA game, Chapel Hill would have been a pretty good place to start looking.
Pickens, SC, not so much.

Hubert Davis went from a final 4 team to not making the tournament with basically the same team and a top transfer.
They were the first team ever to start the year #1 and not make the tournament. But you are right, he is the sole reason Manek is playing overseas. Manek would be working at a grocery store if not for Hubert Davis.
I wonder what Hubert Davis did different from Manek to Nance? Both similar size and same position. Nance shot 45% from 3 at Northwestern the year before, but only shot 32% at UNC. He was a big time let down for UNC this year.
If Davis was so good at coaching that position, why did he fail with Nance? WHy did he make Nance shoot so much worse for UNC?

This is where you show your complete ignorance of basketball
May 25, 2023, 7:10 PM

You should just quit. I mean it.
It doesn't matter how hyped Nance was, he wasn't nearly the player that Manek was. Nance was an athlete, not a basketball player, and it showed in all the things that Manek did but Nance didn't: passing, rebounding, fill the gap defense, move to the open space, letting clearing for Bacot off the block but cutting down low to break the double-team, willingness to take the big shot, etc. etc. ad nauseam.
If you knew anything about Davis, you would know that he wanted a true stretch 4. Manek filled that; Nance didn't even come close.
They even had the same problems last year when Garcia was starting, and before he left the team. Same issues - which is why their early record was so bad. Then Manek came in and the team jelled immediately.
PJ could be that type of player, but he thinks he's got to be ACC BMOC of the Year to make the NBA. Whatever.
I played two seasons of DII ball before hanging the sneakers up and transferring to Clemson. You people who are backing Brownell simply don't know what you're talking about. And if you hung out with Insiders from any of the other ACC schools for just 10 minutes, you'd find that out in spades. Absolutely no one thinks he's better than slightly-less-than-average. Sorry to break it to you...

So why do you think he recruited nance to replace manek? Do you realize that nance was ranked way higher as a transfer recruit, and averaged a way higher 3pt % the year before?
So let me get this straight. Hubert davis is an incredible coach for stretch forwards per grouchy old mike based on 1 transfer in his first year as a head coach. He then recruits nance, who was to replace manek. Nance proceeded to completely flop and shoot a poor 3pt %.
So either hubert davis is not as good of a "stretch forward" coach as you say he is, or he is not good at evaluating what it takes to be a stretch forward.
Fyi
Manek: 6'9, 230lb. Shot 37% from 3 before transferring. Nance: 6'10, 230 lb shot 45% from 3 before transferring to unc

Then, if you know they are “good people,” why do you insult them by accusing them of gullibility and naivety? If they are “good people,” as you say you know them to be, why would you not trust their judgment and decision making?
Furthermore, why would a Clemson Tiger fan (I’m assuming you are, but you might not be. So, if you aren’t, forgive my assumption) ever want to see a great player transfer to UNC? I mean, UNC? That’s as bad as hoping they transfer to South Carolina or Norte Shame or something. It would also be very detrimental to Clemson’s men’s basketball team. Why would a Tiger fan ever want that?

from someone who supposedly has "your" best interests in mind. And as I said, that's not a knock on the family's value system, just their judgement. D1 athletes and their families get snowed by Head Coaches all the time too. The Hall's aren't the first nor last in that train.
Brownell has feted PJ and the Hall's from day 1 of his recruitment. I'm sure he likes the kid a lot, but mostly Brownell simply couldn't lose a Top 50 player from a High School as close as Dorman. It's one thing for a relatively unknown like Ja Morant to slip by, or even a kid like GG Jackson who's already from Columbia and Iikes the Coots, but Brownell can't lose a big fish very often from the western Upstate and stay in the saddle here. You have to recruit better than that. Have to.
As to UNC - that's exactly what I mean - I. want. the. best. for. the. kid. I'm not worried about Dean Smith or any of that bull crap. In the long run, who cares where PJ plays so long as it is somewhere that will adequately develop him for the next step. That ain't here, regardless how much we need him. Davis coached in the NBA for quite awhile, and he knows the players and style. I was personally disappointed in what they did this year, but there seemed to be some real head-cases on that team too.
But to be honest, we need a New Coach more than we need PJ back. It's as simple as that.
