Why I think it’s important to let Brad go now as opposed to season’s end

1. It signals to the players that we are committed to finding the right coach and care about basketball.
2. It alerts young coaches who want a big boy job that we’re open for business before they see other openings.
3. We won’t have to deal with super smug Judge Brownlee anymore and hear him badmouth football while he sets our program ablaze.

You must not have played sports, players love their coach and are loyal to him. See this past recruitng cycle in football and the de commits after Brent left.

Just what I was thinking. Brownell has finally lost his team. Letting him resign now allows an interim coach to see if he can salvage the season, notifies all who would be interested in contacting Neff about the job, allows Neff to pursue the short list he and Drad have had the last few years, sends a message to the fan base that enough is enough. Brad had already lost the fan base and now he has lost his team over the last 3 games.

You people babbling about basketball

must not have anything else to do. It's getting really old reading the mindless meltdowns. It's junior high crap. It's Chinese water torture. Since the day he stepped on campus, Brownell has taken a beating from the Clemson "fans". There are two dead horse topics on this board -- what 18-year-old five star football player are we chasing and when will Brownell be fired. Don't you realize he signed a one-year extension before the season? Don't you realize the new AD has been on the job for just over a month? Nothing is going to happen after this season. Yes, Boston College was a bad loss. Yes, it felt like a double punch in the gut. Yes, everybody wearing orange was disappointed. But the answer is not to continually rip the coach and rip the program. This board is always fond of telling posters to stay positive when talking about the football team because recruits read the message boards. I guess that is a football-only rule. I certainly hope no potential basketball recruits come view the cesspool of constant negativity on this board. The troll group has two approaches -- The Tigers won tonight. Great, they didn't play anybody and they didn't look good doing it or THE TIGERS LOST TONIGHT. LET'S FIRE BROWNELL, CLOSE DOWN THE PROGRAM, AND TURN LITTLEJOHN INTO A FOOTBALL PARKING LOT!!! Then there is the "Who do you want to hire?" question. Then there is the constant spewing -- "Brownell doesn't care"/"Brownell has lost the team"/"Brownell can't coach". None of those three statements are true. Or even close to true. He's managed to survive Clemson, a long-time traditional basketball crap hole, and build a competitive program. At this point, the "fans" already have moved on to spring football and when is Monte Lee going to be fired. But they will be back a couple more times when UNC and Duke come to town. Those are the games they turn in their orange shirts for blue shirts and Littlejohn becomes a home away from home for the enemy. I never will forget this board trying to defend Cornell Powell wearing a UNC shirt while sitting on the baseline. You don't do that to your fellow student-athletes. Write every day that you want a new basketball coach. It isn't going to change anything because there are just a few people on campus who will make that decision. I am as frustrated as anybody because I've been watching Clemson basketball for more than 50 years. I have always wanted Clemson to having a winning basketball program. I have witnessed some ups and some real downs. But after all that time, I am convinced of one thing. Whoever holds the head men's basketball job at Clemson will receive more respect from the opposition than he will from his own fans. And that's sad.

If you are so tired of reading the “mindless meltdowns”, then ignore them. Scroll right by. I get it, Brownell is a nice guy and those of you close to him want to defend him and attack any poster who has a different opinion. The vast majority of posters on this site, and I believe Clemson fans in general, are just frustrated that the AD has allowed this situation to continue this long. We’re not complaining after a bad loss, we’re upset about several bad losses, blown double digit leads, six men on the court at a critical time, questionable play calls late in the game, and all of this happening FOR 12 ####### YEARS! Enough.
I don’t see this groundswell of discontent going away, especially if like you say nothing is gonna happen after this year. He has lost the fan base. It’s gonna take a lot to get them back and personally I don’t see it happening. So like I said earlier… if you’re tired of seeing it just scroll on by.

on this site too. It was a lot.
Now he grew up the next two years and became a model player and student, but don't think Dabo didn't find out about it and handled it internally.
If you asked most Clemson fans when Brad started what his record would be season by season they would have been very turned off by that. Brad can stay, but improvements need to be met in the next season for sure.
