bacon . Played so hard in the Orange Bowl he had to have IV's after the game.

I understand the intent of the question.

I just wanted Homer's name in the mix.

I know you are a Fuller guy and justifiably so.

Re: Rank the following Clemson QB's

Dec 22, 2012, 7:22 PM

Fuller
Homer
Boyd
Woody
Whitehurst

Ellington

Rationale for the rankings? Winning important games matters as much as pure ability. Fuller got us on the map. Homer won it all for us. Boyd is a great, record setting QB and an ACC champ, but has not taken us to the heights of Fuller or Jordan. Woody was great fun to watch, but didn't win anything. Whitehurst had the misfortune of playing on underachieving teams.

Ellington > Davis b/c Ellington is an ACC champ and 10-win season guy.

First off, love this question & it's tough as balls to try to answer:

Charlie
Tajh
Woody
Fuller

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

For CU QBs, there's Steve Fuller and there's everbody else.

Dec 22, 2012, 8:35 PM

Only fans who never saw Steve Fuller play doubt that he was our best by a long shot.

After that, I would take Charlie Whitehurst ... hard to argue his 4 years as a starter, wins agains FSU and Tennessee and record against South Carolina.

I loved Woody Dantzler as an athlete, but I never thought he was a great QB. Just like I loved Rodney Williams as a winner, but didn't think he was a great athlete.

For that one year, Homer Jordan was the perfect QB for that particular team that particular season. He didn't do a lot before 1981 or after 1981.

If Tajh Boyd can manage to lead the team to some significant wins (like LSU?) and manage to have a great senior year where he helps us beat SCAR, he will rocket up the pecking order in my estimation. Right now no better than 3rd for me.

actually Whitehurst and Woody are a tie for third.

Bonus question Davis, Ellington

Re: Rank the following Clemson QB's

Dec 22, 2012, 8:53 PM

I know my opinion doesn't count for much, but I loved watching Woody play. Whitehurst was a boss against us for 4 years. Don't remember fuller or jordan. Boyd is a good QB, but just seems to play tight against us. I'll go with Woody.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fuller, Whitehurst, Boyd, Woody. Maybe flip Boyd and Woody.***
